Band signs to label run by Mikey Doling and the NFL's Kyle Turley...
Gridiron Records is proud to announce San Diego, CA based quintet Unset as the latest signing to the label's blooming roster, which also includes The Hairbrain Scheme and Invitro.
"We are all excited to be a part of the Gridiron family," says Unset frontman Frank Torres. "Over the past year we have kept in touch with Kyle and Mikey from Gridiron, getting to know them and watching them
progress as a new label. At the same time, they too were keeping an eye on Unset and our progress as a new band, so, coming together now was not a spontaneous decision at all for either party. The sincere and
ultimately genuine character of the Gridiron Records team has surpassed all of our expectations. We are confident that they will work hard to bring Unset to its fullest potential."
"We signed Unset because they are a progressive band with extreme talent. From the mind blowing guitar solos, heavy bass beats and massive vocal range, we knew that this band was destined for success and we
could not pass on the opportunity to sign them," said Kyle Turley of Gridiron Records.
Unset was formed in 2004 by guitarist Ian Alexander and Vocalist Frank W. Torres. Since their formation the band has earned a loyal underground following throughout California opening for high profile acts like (hed)p.e., Adema, Invitro, Mower and The Accident Experiment. The band is currently in San Diego, CA writing and demoing new material before they enter the studio to record their debut album for late 2007 release.
"Our debut album will be produced by Mikey Doling and engineered by Brad Dujmovic. These two make a dynamic team in the studio. The work we have done with them in the past has made them our first choice for
recording our full-length debut," says Torres about the band's upcoming album. "We'd like to think our songs are like snapshots in time. Each subject is very real and true to life. Emotion, to me, cannot be conveyed if it is contrived so every song we put together comes from an honest and, at most times, vulnerable place. In the end we hope that the record will portray a sincerity that borders on confession, an emotion that borders on madness and an originality that borders on art."
The band has recently uploaded demo tracks from their forthcoming Gridiron Records debut on their Myspace page.
