The Van Bizkit Controversy Continues
Posted by Dana Suzanne on 09.25.2003

According to metalsludge.com, Eddie Van Halen did not audition for Limp Bizkit, but was invited by Fred Durst to jam with the band.

Metalsludge.com states that "Fred came to Eddie and asked him to [jam] so he must have been bored that day and did. It's not like he was waiting in line at Guitar Center with the other guitar players, or that he even got turned down for the gig. He's Eddie Van Halen, he doesn't have to audition for anybody. It's not like Fred said, 'Sorry Ed, you're not what we're looking for. Hit the road.' Eddie might be nuts now and rather eccentric, but he's not that hard up for a gig. Fred Durst, as usual, likes to exaggerate things and get press however he can...He invites Eddie over to jam, next thing you know he's saying Eddie auditioned for the band. Since MTV.com swings from Fred's nuts, they'll put up whatever he says without checking out the facts...By the way, one thing that Fred forgot to mention is that after the jam session, he decided to keep Eddie's equipment. Ed had to go down there with his bodyguard and get it back. This whole situation happened about a year ago, but of course Fred's talking about it now since the CD is now out."

So is Durst really full of doody? You decide.
