'Idol' Champ Hicks Splits With Arista

The champ is going at it alone...
2006's American Idol champ Taylor Hicks has split with Arista, which is the record label that distributed his self titled major label debut back in '06.
"Taylor is going to record on his own for the next album," says a source close to the situation, who declined further comment.
Taylor signed a three record contract with Arista. Taylor said about the deal, "Everybody signs the deal at the top 24 period. You know, by that point, you take anything you can get. That's the way I've always been. I've tried to hustle gigs my whole life, and I'm still hustling gigs, believe it or not"
Taylor is releasing a new album and DVD in 2008 as well as a possible tour, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
