AP Reporter Says Britney's Obituary Is Already Pre-Written
Posted by Mitch Michaels on 01.18.2008

An entertainment reporter from the Associated Press admitted to Us Weekly recently that not only would Britney Spears' death be a huge story, but they've already got her obituary drafted up.

"We are not wishing it, but if Britney passed away, it's easily one of the biggest stories in a long time...I think one would agree that Britney seems at risk right now...Of course, we would never wish any type of misfortune on anybody and hope that we would never have to use it until 50 years from now…but if something were to happen, we would have to be prepared."

He went on to say that the AP keeps an "extensive" list of obits pre-written.

This is not an uncommon journalistic practice. For example, in the TV industry, video editors constantly update packages on famous people so the network will have footage available in case something unexpected happens.

Right, having obits ready for famous people who are still living is a very common practice.
