Some various newsbits from around the scene...credit mostly RollingStone.com...
Legend David Bowie is releasing his live albums, "David Live" and "Stage" on March 1st, 2005, as "enhanced" CD's which will include DVD footage and previously unreleased material.
More re-releasing...Alanis Morrisette is throwing "Jagged Little Pill" out there in celebration of it's ten year anniversary. Ten years already?
Lipsynch alert! Ashlee Simpson will host the West Coast feed of "Dick Clark's New Years Rockin' Eve" this year, with Regis Philbin filling in for Dick Clark, who is currently ill, having suffered a minor stroke recently. Also on the line-up will be Ciara, Earth, Wind and Fire(YES!), Good Charlotte, Big and Rich, and Billy Idol.
Fat Joe has plans to donate 20 PC's to his Bronx grammar school Alma Mater, PS 146. Way to go, Joe. You need some good press these days.
Good news for folks who need a good education in "Alternative" music...Dinosaur Jr. will re-issue(allota that happening, eh?) their first three LP's, "Dinosaur", "You're Living All Over Me", and "Bug", with bonus tracks and other stuff by Robert Pollard, Mike Watt(ex-Firehose), and Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore. J Mascis rules, kiddies.
Wanna own the studio Eminem recorded "The Slim Shady LP" in? Next month, Studio 8 will be up for auction on eBay, with a starting bid a little over $200,000.
Billy Idol is EVERYWHERE. In addition to Dick Clark New Year's shindig, he will also be at South by Southwest in Austin, TX, with Aimee Mann, Beth Orton, and Fatboy Slim. Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant(sweet), and Erykah Badu will speak at the Festival.
