Rock band lends a helping hand to those in need...
After Tuesday's show in Nashville, TN, alt-rock band Linkin Park will head to New Orleans to help families that were affected by Hurricane Katrina.
The band, along with Coheed and Cambria, will be helping out Music for Relief, and Habitat homeowner families from New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity, building homes in an undisclosed hurricane-affected area.
"There is still so much work to be done on the Gulf Coast following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina," said bassist Dave "Phoenix" Farrell. "Linkin Park is proud to be a part of the rebuilding process."
Music for Relief was formed by Linkin Park as a nonprofit organization that provides aid to victims of natural disasters. Since the organization was formed in 2005, over $2.5 million dollars was raised for the victims of the tsunami in Southeast Asia and Hurricane Katrina and Rita.
Where were they after it happened or during the Telethon?
Better late than never I guess.

They've been helping for the past few years. Apparently, the rebuilding of New Orleans isn't finished.

Sure I give them credit. I still wonder about celebs that start their own charities or get their fans to donate. Better yet, the ones that do PSA for charity or causes.
Why can't celebs donate their OWN money?

Linkin Park not only donate to charity through their Music for Relief, they have also giving a lump of cash...somewhere around $50,000 of their own. And, not LP themselves were on the telethon for Katrina, but Chester made a special appearance with Motley Cru, as well was play his own song later in the show. LP have been there helping out since the beginning. too bad alot of other bands aren't like them.
