Tom Morello Signs Up Ben Harper, Slash & Others For The Justice Tour
Posted by Mitch Michaels on 04.01.2008

Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello is once again combining politics and music on the road with his upcoming "Justice Tour".

Morello, who also performs under the name Nightwatchman, has tapped artists like Ben Harper, Slash, Perry Farrell and members of MC5 and AFI to play different dates, with each performance focusing on different spheres of social justice.

The Justice Tour kicks off April 15th in Los Angeles and will continue through May 1st. The New York show is a previously announced show benefiting Road Recovery and will feature Slash, Jerry Cantrell and Wayne Kramer of MC5.

"Each night of this tour is going to be a freedom party," Morello said. "We are going to create a little bit of the world we'd like to see."

Boots Riley, Shooter Jennings and Maynard James Keenan from Tool are also confirmed to be taking part in the tour. Organizers in each market are determining the combinations of special guests, to be announced at a later date. Other causes supported on tour include safe and affordable housing, living wage, peace and veterans care, labor organization and affordable healthcare.

Morello described the goal of the events as "musicians, fans of music and grass roots activist organizations working together to fight for social justice. We tend to do that and have a great time, too. It'll be a cool variety of musicians going to different places and not only playing shows. It will benefit specific good causes, whether it's supporting anti-war efforts or supporting Iraq Veterans Against the War or repairing destroyed New Orleans."

Justice Tour Dates:
4/15 - Troubador, Los Angeles
4/17 - Nokia Theater, New York City
4/20 - House of Blues,New Orleans
4/22 - The Grey Eagle Tavern & Music Hall, Asheville, N.C.
4/24 - The Black Cat, Washington, D.C.,
4/28 - TBA, Boston
5/1 - Park West, Chicago
