Big digital sales makr a historic week for Mariah and Madonna...
Mariah Carey and Madonna bump the legendary Elvis Presley down in the record books this week.
As expected, Mariah Carey moves past Elvis Presley and into sole possession of second place for most #1's in the rock era, as "Touch My Body" climbs fourteen spots to the top of the Hot 100, marking Carey's eighteenth chart-topper. That's enough to put Mariah in second place on the all-time most #1's list, just two #1's shy of The Beatles, who hold the record with twenty.
The big jump for the single is thanks to a record-setting debut week digital tally of 286,000 downloads, which surpasses the previous fastest selling digital single, Rihanna's "Umbrella", by over 10,000.
Madonna surpasses Elvis' record of Most Top 10 Singles, nabbing her 37th Top 10 with "4 Minutes", which jumps from #68 to #3 this week. That single also moved an astonishing 210,000 digital copies in its first week.
This marks the first time ever that two tracks have moved 200k+ digital copies in the same week.
