Noel Gallagher Not Down With Jay-Z
Posted by Mitch Michaels on 04.14.2008

Oasis' Noel Gallagher has spoken out about the decision to put Jay-Z in the prime Saturday night headline slot at this year's Glastonbury Festival.

The Oasis frontman said that deviating from the festival's tradition of booking guitar-based headliners was "wrong".

"If it ain't broke don't fix it," he said. "If you start to break it then people aren't going to go. I'm sorry, but Jay-Z? No chance. "Glastonbury has a tradition of guitar music and even when they throw the odd curve ball in on a Sunday night you go 'Kylie Minogue?' I don't know about it. But I'm not having hip hop at Glastonbury. It's wrong."

Jay Z is LAZY !!

He sucks !! Rap isn't music !! Rap died the summer of 98 give or take a few one hit wonders !!

Your could argue the same about rock. Music in general has been far less interesting in the last 10 years. There's alot of good hip hop that's probably out of your grasp.

If you think nothing good has come from the genre since Public Enemy, then you are judging that based solely on the radio. There is a ton of great hip-hop out there, but 95% of the shit that's in radio rotation sucks. Also, that song "Champagne Supernova" was pointless and shit.

Jay-Z is so gonna get bottled off at Glastonbury!

I love hip-hop but Jay-Z at Glastonbury IS a moronic choice. Personally, I don't care much for him, find his songs on the whole mediocre and his rapping doesn't impress me. Bling bling rappers give the genre a bad name among the idiots who judge one on that they see on television. Of course, the rich white record execs aren't eager to present black people as anything but violent, ignorant thugs, so I doubt I'll see Common headlining anytime soon.

Yeah I expect Jay-Z to be piss-bottled.

Jay Z should get the roots to be his back up band like he did on mtv a few years back to placate this self righteous prick. Music is music... I bet if Daft Punk or The Chemical Brothers headlined he wouldn't say anything...But Noel not unlike most Englishmen is obviously racist.

You want real rap music? Then listen to Common, The Black Eyed Peas, Wu-Tang Clan, LL Cool J. Don't listen to this wannabe rappers that you're hearing on the radio. Don't blame the rap music, blame the shitty rappers like Lil Wayne, Souljaboy, and other crappers that making rap music not like how it was since mid 90's.

"RAP IS CRAP!"
And Barry Windham agrees with me.

And you, not unlike most 13 year olds on the internet are obviously an ignorant moron.

I don't mind rap, but will it really work in front of 60,000+ people at a festival? Live rap generally works better in a more closed environment; will be interested to see how it goes

If they want a hiphop act to Glastonbury, The Roots would've been the way to go. They're a great live act although I don't know how they'll come off in front of large crowds...

Noel Gallagher is an ignorant bastard,he obviously doesn't know shit about Hip Hop.All of you who said Hip Hop is lousy music and died since 98', you don't know what you are talking about. Hip Hop songs like I Get Money,Stronger, and Duffel Bag Boy have gotten fans' attention.

I wish I could talk to a beat then I'd be a rapper too

FIrst off to all you haters there are plaenty of great artists in every genre of music, rap especially. And everyone hating on Lil Wayne, why don't you listen to his mixtapes instead of just his singles? And while we're at it, Oasis sucks. They put out nothing but melodramatic whiny cry baby pussy music, and then claimed to be the best band in the world. They're trash.

What a little bitch Noel is.

Posted By: Guest#1663 (Guest)  on April 15, 2008 at 04:14 PM

its not rap's fault. it's the idiot who decided to book jay-z as the headline. i agree with noel. glastonbury is all about guitars not effin' rap. i personally like rap but i know when its not needed/suitable. whats next? they get Wing?

Posted By: shaydee (Guest)  on April 15, 2008 at 06:22 PM

Are you serious Oasis sucks?

Anyways whatever...they've only had some of the most successful albums of all time and I dunno write and play their own songs. Which is more than many rap artists can say. They never choose beats they just use crap someone else has created.
