Plus, Lady Antebellum debuts and Miley Cyrus & Juno return...
Mariah Carey boasts the biggest sales week of the year thus far, as her new album E=MC2 moved 463,000 copies on its way to debuting at #1 on the Billboard chart. It's also Mariah's personal best first sales week. The album is Carey's sixth #1 and follows 2005's chart topper The Emancipation Of Mimi. E=MC2 is lead by the #1 single "Touch My Body".
Leona Lewis slips from the top of the charts to #2 in her second week, as Spirit managed just under 100,000 units. Meanwhile, Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana's The Best Of Both Worlds Concert jumps from #31 to #3. The album was released in Wal*Mart stores last month, but only this week became available at other outlets.
Country act Lady Antebellum debuts at #4 this week with their first self-titled album. The set is led by the single "Love Don't Live Here", which just missed the Country Top 10 this week. The trio are signed to Capitol Records and gained notoriety when they contributed a song to "The Hills" soundtrack.
Now 27 drops a spot to #5 this week, while former #1 George Strait sees his Troubadour fall four spots to #6 in its third week. The Alvin & The Chipmunks soundtrack continues its new Top 10 run, falling just one notch to #7.
The Juno soundtrack returned to the Top 10 this week, jumping from #46 to #8 thanks to the film's recent DVD release. R.E.M.'s Accelerate falls from #5 to #9 in its third week. Taylor Swift experiences a 13% sales increase to bounce back into the Top 10, climbing three places to #10.
