Usher Says Jay-Z Will Prove Noel Gallagher Wrong At Glastonbury
Posted by Mitch Michaels on 05.06.2008

Usher believes that Noel Gallagher is wrong to say Jay-Z shouldn't headline the Glastonbury music festival, and insists the rapper will prove him wrong with a spectacular performance.

Usher said: 'It really shocked me that he said Jay-Z was the wrong choice. Jay-Z is an incredible artist and headliner. I saw him perform at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, and you're not getting better than that."

Usher is not the first person to blast Noel, who claimed booking Jay-Z was "wrong" and went against the festival's "tradition of guitar music".

Last week, event organizer Michael Eavis hit back, saying: "hy did Noel need to get involved? It was a bit weird, to be honest. He should give someone else a chance. He needn't have said that and I was disappointed he did."

Meanwhile, Eavis has revealed he is desperate to secure Amy Winehouse for the festival. He said: 'We want Amy. I can't say anything else at this stage except that she was my first choice when I started compiling a list of artists."

Go Noel! This booking was wrong. Rap isn't music people! This booking shows the sad state popular music is in right now, when turntables that steal other people's music outsell other instruments and music without harmony or standard notation rules the airwaves it is a sad sad time.

Screw Hip Hop!

Whoever that "Guest" is above, go away. Seriously. People really still try and shout that Hip Hop/Rap isn't music? You're an imbecile. For real. I'm as white as white can be, so it's not a race thing, either. Without Hip Hop, I honestly doubt most of the music you listen to would at the very least sound anything like it does. Rap is art, rap is poetry, if it's done right.

And I'm not talking about Da Game or what MTV would have you believe is "Hip Hop", either. Jay Z is one of the last true talented-and-successful rappers out there.

And to add an extra little footnote here, Oasis wasn't bigger than Jesus, and now at least Noel has proven they aren't bigger than Jay Z, either.

Jesus? Jay Z? They're the same guy!

lolz. rap is retards attempting poetry...lolz

Jay Z is the right choice, and I have no doubt that he'll prove the closeminded Gallagher wrong.

I see this being pretty disastrous. Any Amy Winehouse would just go on stage and die. Why would he want that? Crazy promoter.

99 problems > Oasis entire catalog

If this was Eminem or the Beastie Boys nobody would say crap... Its racism hiding behind musical taste.

And another thing...There are like 6 different stages at glaston so if you don't want more of the jigga man you can watch something else like massive attack or jazz music...

I personally love hip-hop music and I think Jay-Z is a decent artist. However, he should not be headlining Glastonbury. The majority of people there will despise hip-hop. I was at Reading in 2003 when 50 Cent got booed off the stage and showered with bottles of piss. I don't think the same will happen at Glastonbury but Jay-Z will have to anticpate a unanimously hostile crowd, whereas another guitar based rock band would have more success

Props to Jay

No props for a lack of respect for black music for the first poster who has no respect for BLACK MUSIC!!

i equal ratings is spot on. Hip Hop has helped advance the sound of every music genre in the last 15 years or so.

Just because someone plays an instrument doesn't necessarily mean they are a great musician. I know you love taking that term literally, but many hip hop artists (maybe you should turn off Kiss FM and listen to some talented rappers) can put together lyrics that your typical drugged up rocker could never think of.

Also comparing 50 Cent to Jay Z shows your lack of hip hop knowledge...

i dont licke rap music at all but it is still music and there is no doubt that people like jay-z have a lot of talent

music is music, it isnt black or white. Rap is a form a piss poor poetry that is spoken over sampled and digitized beats, it is a creative form of expression as any music is, but then so is frickin Aqua. I personally do not like hip hop and what it has come to stand for, and the types of attitude it conveys in general. Noel G for the record hates Eminem as well and has been qouted as saying so many times. He states his opinion and you have to repsect him for that, ask him a question he will answer it honestly. I also think it is a bad choice for a headline act, given the nature of a Glasto festival, and no it has nothing to do with changing with the times, plenty of new acts and new so called genres of music exist beyond the 1 dimensional music that is hip hop. So stick Jayz and other rap artists in a smaller tent and let the Vanilla ice wannabees and the Snoop Dogg never gonna bees go along to watch, Then they can all stand about giving out pointless attitude until they have to go back to selling big macs or drugs. I have yet to meet an intelligent person who listens to hip hop. And the guy who said he is white and listens to hip hop, so what, ur an idiot for even saying that. pointless peasant
