Band's first shipment nearly sells out in its first week...
Testament debuts at #59 on the Billboard Top 200 this week with The Formation Of Damnation, the highest chart postion of the band's 24 year career. The album moved 11,556 copies or the 13,000 that shipped from their distributor, which also makes it Testament's best sales week ever, too.
Testament's Chuck Billy said, "It's nice to see heavy metal make a statement in such a pop climate."
Eric Peterson was also happy, saying "We are just stoked to have the record out finally, thanks to all the fans who went out pick it up so eagerly, and if you haven't yet, off you go."
And finally, Alex Skolnick was pleased with the success, remarking, "While chart positions are not our priority we are nonetheless thrilled and would like to thank everyone who is supporting Testament in 2008. Cheers!"
Formation Of Damnation reached #4 on the Hard Rock chart and is a Top 40 hit in several ineternational charts.
Testament is currently touring Europe, but will return to the US this summer as part of the Metal Masters Tour with Heaven And Hell, Judas Priest & Motorhead.
