Dave Grohl Writes An Open Letter To Metallica
Posted by Mitch Michaels on 05.09.2008

Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl has posted an open letter urging Metallica to make a kick-ass album.

He writes: Hey, it's Dave! Remember me? Yeah, I'm the guy that's been listening to your band faithfully since 1983. I bought your first album Kill 'Em All from a mail order catalogue called Under The Rainbow, I think. Actually I can't remember. It was 1983 for Christsakes! But that album changed my life and I've been listening to your albums ever since (even St Anger!).

I can't wait to hear the new shit, and no matter what you guys do I'll always be first one at the shop waiting to hear it. I'm sure you'll come out and blow everybody's fuckin' minds, because you're fuckin' METALLICA!

Good luck. And don't release it until it's kick-ass.

Yours, Dave Grohl.

P.S. Are you finished recording the drums yet?

I am glad that others realize Metallica had a career after the Black album. New
album is gonna be sic, like St. Anger but with a Justice feel...hells yeah!

Nice letter.Too bad Dave didn't write it 6 months ago before the album had
already been written, recorded and mostly engineered.sigh.

Mostly this letter was written to say, "Hey don't fuck up Metallica, since
you guys are almost gone now."

Dear Dave Grohl,

Please do not waste your time writing to a band who turned their backs on every
single fan with the Napster fiasco. Instead, ignore these guys who are probably
in with their therapist crying.

Instead Dave, please focus on your cliche generic rock band that used to be
really good and rocking...now is just another radio band with bland, uninspired
lyrics.

I like ya Dave, but those in glass houses should not throw stones...your last
few albums ARE ALL THE SAME SHIT!!!

Fuck off.

really really really really really really sucks.

Guest 006 is an idiot. Rock on Foo!

I'd rather listen to ST ANGER Rather than crap like Panic at the Disco and Fall
out boy.

Metallica's worst album is still better than a lot of bands best albums.

Good for Dave to show the support.

People need to stop expecting Master everytime Metallica comes out with a new
record...

Some great comments..too many to mention..but ya Dave Grohl is a bit rich to
criticise Metallica. The Foos last few albums have been uninspired to say the
least.

Amazing it only took 4 comments to go

"Metallica, napster, sell-out blah blah blah"

Hey I'm a metallica fan and they didnt turn their back on me when they decided
to bitch on little punks downloading their music.

Kurt Cobain should be rolling in his grave. I'm probably biased because I don't
like Metallica, but hearing one of the pioneers of grunge who used to make good
music say this is upsetting. Why don't you try to make a non-repetitive album
you're capable of, Dave?

Posted By: Dirt Cobain (Guest)  on May 10, 2008 at 10:19 AM

Turning their back on the fans? Hell, if someone was ripping off my tunes, I'd
be angry too. The fact they're super-rich doesn't matter. Stealing's
wrawng..IT'S WRAWNG!
