Billboard Charts: Usher Scores Huge And Debuts At #1

Plus, debuts from Al Green and the Sex And The City soundtrack...
Usher moved 433,000 copies of his new album Here I Stand this week to debut at #1 on the Billboard charts. It's the second highest sales week of 2008, just behind Mariah Carey's #1 hit E=MC2. Here I Stand follows Usher's 2004 #1 hit Confessions. The lead single, "Love In This Club" with Young Jeezy, topped the singles chart for three straight weeks.
Trailing a very distant second is the Sex And The City soundtrack, which features tracks by Run-D.M.C., The Weepies, Nina Simone and star Jennifer Hudson, among others. The companion film opened at #1 in theaters last weekend.
Last week's #1 album, 3 Doors Down, drops to #3 this week, and Bun B's II Trill follows suit, slipping from #2 to #4. Leona Lewis' Spirit, another former #1, climbs from #6 to #5 this week despite a 23% sales decline.
Frank Sinatra's Nothing But The Best drops two places this week to #6, while Duffy's Rockferry moves up a spot from #8 to #7. Duffy swaps plaes with Mariah, whose E=MC2 falls to #8.
The legendary Al Green debuts at #9 this week with Lay It Down, his highest charting album since 1972's #4 hit I'm Still In Love With You. The album, released on Blue Note Records, was produced by ?uestlove and fetaures appearances by Anthony Hamilton, John Legend and Corrine Bailey Rae.
Rounding out the Top 10 is Death Cab For Cuite, whose Narrow Stairs falls from #5 to #10.
