Tom DeLonge Speaks Out On My Chemical Romance Controversy
Posted by Mitch Michaels on 06.12.2008

Angels & Airwaves frontman (and ex-blink-182 member) Tom DeLonge recently spoke candidly regarding the recent MCR controversy that made headlines and whether he believe in the whole "music saves lives" idea and if there's too much responsibility on the musician.

DeLonge: "The same sort of thing happened to me with Blink, so I can understand what it's like to be a part of something like that. We had a victim of the Columbine shootings take his life with our song on repeat. You kinda go through these situations where you blame yourself —but you can't. You have no idea who these people are. And My Chemical Romance, they spend a lot of time singing about coming together and there's ingredients of rebellion and angst, but what band doesn't have that when you're young?"

You can read the full interview here.

Why bother having a comment approval system if crap like that is what is approved?

both bands do suck...why are you guys crucifying the guy for his opinion?

as for the heart sting pulling emo wannabe 'music saves lives' crap...good for them for spouting that bullshit without vomiting, and i would suggest that rehab would help these people more than anything else.

Probably because his comment added absolutely nothing.

While Tom is a total douche what he's makes sense. That he didn't know the girl, and people shouldn't place blame on musicians.

Ozzy and Priest also faced blame for their kids killing themselves as well and you dont hear either commenting on this subject. Who really gives a shit what this asshole thinks? I believe the people who dont like what I said listen to his shitty music.
