Bono Speaks On Radiohead
Posted by Mitch Michaels on 07.04.2008

U2 frontman Bono has had his say on the current state of the music industry in a sternly worded letter recently addressing NME writer Pail McGuiness, who stated that Radiohead's In Rainbows released backfired due to all the people who downloaded the album for nothing.

Bono said "While there is no doubt that it's extremely difficult for a new artist to get the kind of investment on which U2 depended in the first few wobbly years of recording, we disagree with Paul's assessment of Radiohead's release as having backfired to a certain extent.

"We think they were courageous and imaginative in trying to figure out some new relationship with their audience. Such imagination and courage are in short supply right now. They're a sacred talent and we feel blessed to be around at the same time."

Bono also subtly took a swipe at ISP's for not doing enough to curb illegal downloading, saying "We agree that it is disturbing to see internet service providers and technology companies profit from the so-called 'disintermediation' of the music business when so many music lovers are losing their jobs."

Radiohead made more money with In Rainbows then they did for Hail To The Thief. FACT!

In my eyes, that means that the idea worked!

Bono has a small penis.

Radiohead made more money from In Rainbows than they did with their complete back catalog of music from what I read from what they were saying a few weeks after its release and thanks to not being at the mercy of a record label charging them obscene fees.

Bono is the same guy who said years ago said something to the effect of that it was just an honor to be able record music people wanted to hear and blah blah blah.

I love the blind hate here. Bono defends Radiohead, and he gets attacked.

Sheep.

While I'm not the biggest U2 fan, it's amazing how many blind sheep attack Bono just cos he's Bono. It leads me to ask one simple question. Why in gods name do I read these comment sections? They're populated by FUCKTARDS!!

You guys are idiots, lol. Bono defended Radiohead, but all I see are "Bono has a small penis." and such.

411 adding a comments section is the worst thing since the "Epic Fail" bullshit.

Idiots.

Jeremy Thomas, sure, Bono is defending Radiohead; however, he is still insinuating that "illegal downloading" is killing the music industry. That is why Bono sucks. (Well, one reason anyway).

Every year I hear about how the music industry only made 5 billion dollars when the previous year they made 5.1 billion dollars. Big deal.

Illegal downloading is not the problem. The problem is that record companies screw their artists. The artists never see what they should and that is why most tour because that is how they make money, not by record sales.
