Heavily bootlegged set from the Ziggy Stardust days finally getting an official release...
In 1972 after introducing the world to the space alien persona known by the name of Ziggy Stardust, David Bowie set off on his first U.S. Tour . Accompanying him on tour were the Spiders from Mars - Mick Ronson (guitar, vocals), Trevor Bolder (bass), Mick "Woody" Woodmansey (drums) and Mike Garson (piano).
Previously unreleased, although a wildly popular bootleg, the October 20, 1972 concert at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium (Bowie's first U.S. Radio performance), was broadcasted by the now-defunct Los Angeles station KMET. The recording will be released digitally, as a limited edition CD and a double Vinyl LP package complete with photo from the show and a re-print of the Los Angeles time review of the show. The sets will hit stores on June 22nd. You can stream the entire album below.
Bowie says of the show ", "I can tell that I'm totally into being Ziggy by this stage of our touring. It's no longer an act; I am him."
