Bob Dylan releases one of the greatest Rock & Roll songs of all time...
Bob Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone" was released on this day in 1965 as a single for radio play. The first song from the highly regarded Highway 61 Revisited hit #2 on the charts (behind the Beatles "Help"), staying for a total of 12 weeks on the billboard 100.
The label had refused to relese the single, claiming it was to long for air play. Dylan's producer Bob Johnston had it released anyway. The song is widley regarded as Dylan's best song of his career, and was vote by Rolling Stone magazine as the best Rock & Roll song of all time.
Bob Dylan recorded "Like A rolling Stone" without sheet music, letting inspiration determine the final product. The 4th take on the second day of recording became the master.
