Oasis Kick U2 Out Of Abbey Road
Posted by Mitch Michaels on 07.23.2008

Oasis paid up front for the use of Abbey Road studios in London, forcing the studio to cancel U2's block booking.

Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher said, "U2 were booked in there with Rick Rubin. I was like, 'U2! U2 have to have a fucking six-hour meeting [as to] whether to get tea or coffee in the rehearsal room! They are not coming in here any time in the next five years.'"

"The guy from Abbey Road was like, 'I've got it block-booked for the exact time you want it.' [So] we actually went down to Abbey Road with a bag of money, and said, 'We can pay for the studio now'."

The band was in Abbey Road recording their sixth album, Dig Out Your Soul, which is due to be released in early October.

Oasis is still making albums? News to me...good thing U2 doesn't have to live Beatle fantasies to make a good album.

U2 can't touch Oasis.

Both great bands. 2 of my favourite actually.

But sorry, as much as I love Oasis ( my first rock show ever) the are not in the same league as U2 (seen them 5 times!)

Mikie, Mikie, just 'cause you've seen U2 five Tmes doesn't make them good.

Rick Rubin can get Bono to fart into a microphone and sell millions - why do they need the hallowed grounds of abbey road to do so. At least Oasis has some song writing promise left in them at this point.

Liam Gallagher is so full of both himself and s**t... The only thing he ever was good for was acting like a total jerk with an attitube the size of Mt Everest. The only reason he's still in the band is because his brother is there too.

I despise U2, but saying that Oasis has "song writing promise" is like saying military intelligence. They just don't mesh.

Oasis and U2 both ceased to be relevant some time ago. FACT.

Oasis are tripe.

Bunch of inbreds..

One shitty band telling off a barely less shitty one.

Meanwhile, a newer band with more creative potential can't afford to hire the studio.

Someone needs to tell the Diet Beatles that no one gives a rat's ass about them anymore. Those that do probably think pro wrestling is real, too.

Money talks, bull**** takes the train.

Gotta respect Oasis, they paid CASH on da BARRELHEAD!

I always kinda hated Oasis, but I like they put the pompous asses of U2 (the most overrated band in creation, with the smarmiest, smuggest, most self-congratulating frontman ever) in their place. Yo, Bono...who gives a fuck about African debt? We got our own to worry about.

Don't like either of them but U2 I respect for doing a lot to help the world.Oasis are too busy being twats.

U2 are just like coldplay, vastly over-rated, all songs sound the same, too busy trying to make money from 'saving the world' than from making half decent music

Posted By: NoelG (Guest)  on July 24, 2008 at 07:15 PM

U2 are rock Legends (and aside: one of my favourite bands) which only makes walking in with a bag of money to steal their jam space even more awesomer.

this isn't accurate news at all.

they recorded 2 songs with rick rubin a year ago and chose not to record with him afterwards.

U2's new album was recorded with brian eno and daniel lanois and it is completed and will be released Nov 18th.

Music is my life, and while Oasis do make good music, it's not great. U2 inspired Oasis, and the gallaghers, are just angry bastards, who need to be taught a lesson

Guest 4053 for the win!
