411 Music Presents: Today In Music History
Posted by Dan Haggerty on 08.03.2008

On August 3rd, 1979 dominated the music landscape when album Get The Knack went #1 for six weeks, on the back of their hit single "My Sharona" also went #1 on the single charts for six weeks. This was during the height of disco, which completely dominated the major labels interest at the time. This was also during the rise and peek of punk music. The Knacks pop-hard rock brought them critical and financial success in the face of both music trends, which from this point started to loose traction as new acts like the Knack ushered in the 80's.
