Band's first tour in three years...
Weezer has announced a North American tour in support of their latest album Weezer ("The Red Album"). Starting September 23rd at the Tsongas Center in Boston, the band will embark on a five week tour including dates in New York City at Madison Square Garden and Los Angeles' Great Western Forum. This is the band's first tour in three years. Drummer Pat Wilson announced, "if you want to rock, you know where to find us!"
Opening Weezer's tour are Angels and Airwaves and Tokyo Police Club. Dates are below.
The Red Album's first single "Pork and Beans" just spent 11 weeks at #1 at Modern Rock radio (the longest streak for a song in 2008) and it's accompanying video has been viewed on Youtube over ten million times.
Recently Weezer, with the help of local radio stations, has been reaching out to musicians to create "Hootenannys" across the country. An idea hatched by lead singer Rivers Cuomo (after his mom explained how music was often spread in the good ole days) fans were hand-picked and told to bring their instruments to an unusual location where audience and band become one and jam on Weezer classics and cover songs.

Anyone else wish AVA was closing so they could leave early because that band sounds god-awful live?

Shit, if AVA is as bad as their CD, I may have to leave during their set. I'll just show up late so I don't have to listen to that abomination they call "music".
