Fall Out Boy Donate $50,000 To Pro-Gay Marriage Campaign
Posted by Daniel Wilcox on 10.06.2008

Fall Out Boy have donated $50,000 to the campaign to fight Proposition 8, a controversial US bill to ban same sex marriage in California after it was legalized there earlier this year.

"There are a lot of causes out there - a lot of 'good' fights to be fought," said bassist Pete Wentz. "I think proposition 8 is pretty lame - as many others do too. It's fucking lame."

As for where FOB got the cash to donate to fighting Proposition 8, the bassist is remaining tight lipped. That said, Wentzy did hint earlier this week that the money Fall Out Boy got paid for product placement in their new video, I Don't Care, was being "donated straight to a cause far more worthy."

"I'd love to tell you the story of how we got someone to donate a bunch of money to fight Proposition 8, but I am not allowed to," he wrote in his blog. "You may be able to tell from the video."

I think proposition 9 is the anti-anti-gay marriage bill. Proposition 8 is the anti emo-bands pretending they are socially relevant

FOB could cure cancer and aids and still get hated on. I don't listen to their music but I won't say it sucks. See I got a open mind. Everybody just wants to be little bitches about stuff they don't like. I bet half you bitches nod your head to the music when you hear it. It's alright, I won't tell anyone.

Yeah..I want to make the joke too, but in all seriousness that's a cool move. Doesn't change the fact that FOB are probably the shittiest band around, but still cool.

Mr X, what makes it lame is that they had to announce it. This is simply a publicity stunt to garner interest in their album.

They no doubt had a meeting with the record company who suggested, first, donating to this cause, and secondly, announcing it to the whole world because the homosexual community can be tapped for a small percentage of future sales.

If it's lame for fallout boy to announce it... Was it lame for Spielberg or the Jolie-Pitt family to announce that they donated like 12 times this much to the cause?
