Sublime Reunion In The Works?
Posted by Mitch Michaels on 11.18.2008
Without Bradley Nowell, this could be a tough sell...
Although Sublime officially ceased to exist following the death of singer Bradley Nowell in May of 1996, the surviving members Eric Wilson (bass) and Bud Gaugh (drums) have recently jammed with an unknown-named singer and guitarist, who happens to be a huge fan of Sublime.
While there's not yet any talk of a new album and tour, sources say that Sublime (with a new singer) will perform together for the first time in 13 years in May 2009 at The Bamboozle in East Rutherford, New Jersey, along wth NOFX and Gorilla Biscuits. It is unknown at this time whether those rumors are true or false.
If the question is if I'll drive from DC to NJ for NOFX and Sublime, the answer is maybe!

It's like Don Cheadle playing Wolverine. You just can't do it.

YES, exactly like Nirvana without Cobain.
Might be good music, but it'll still basically be a tribute band.

I would love to see sublime..I never got to see sublime before Brad died and although a reunion tour would undoubtedly be incomparable to those with Brad, it's still better than nothing!!! To hear their songs live in concert would be a fucking sick opportunity..if they play in Jersey or anywhere near, I'll be there

although sceptical as well, ive heard this kid sing, and he can definately make for a descent replacement as far as one can expect. not to mention he shreds guitar better than brad says Eric, and who knows without the Heroin problem they might be able to pull off some descent shows. i agree as far as new material goes its probably a good idea to stay away from. for the most part there are no good bands or scenes coming out of anywhere. so what the fuck. these guys just want to play what they started and never got a chance to finish. for some who never got to see em, it could be a good experience. but for the die hard Bradley finatics of course it wont be the same. we all know that. also dub all stars and shortbus was in no way trying to be sublime reincarnated, so bad example. theyll probably try to bring it back to the way it was in the begining, a power trio, just playing the music they love and be once again part of a genre of music they helped create. I hope they get to play lots of shows and give the world at least one more good, fun band to go out and see. god knows theres plenty of room for bands that dont suck.
i wish them the best, and i never really ever was a big sublime fan even when they practiced at my house. but theyre my friends and the possibilities are endless
