Axl Rose Demands Apology, Money From Dr. Pepper
Posted by Dan Haggerty on 11.28.2008
One week in and Axl is back in top form!
Axl Rose is accusing Dr Pepper of botching a soda giveaway tied to Guns N' Roses' new album. And he's demanding the company take out a full-page apology in The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, USA Today and The Wall Street Journal. His lawyer also wants Dr Pepper to pay the band for what he calls "unauthorized use and abuse of their publicity and intellectual property rights."
Dr Pepper had promised a free soda to everyone in the country if Guns N' Roses released their "Chinese Democracy" album this year. It had been delayed since recording began in 1994. The CD went on sale Sunday, but Dr Pepper's Web site malfunctioned during the 24 hours it offered the free drink. The company extended the promotion for another 18 hours, setting up a toll-free line to accept coupon requests.
A Dr Pepper spokesman didn't address the demands but says this was "one of the largest responses" the company has ever received for a giveaway.
Even though GNR isn't the same since AfD, you can always count on Axl being a big fucking baby.

Yeah, that was some serious bullshit on the part of Dr. Pepper for a nice convenient "malfunction" on the day of the promotion.

Dear Axl,
Shut the hell up. You've released your mediocre CD... good for you. If you can't handle that the world thinks you are a joke, stop acting like one. Pissing and moaning about Dr. Pepper is ridiculous, and demanding that they pay you makes you looking like a bigger money-grubbing whore than Gene Simmons. Anyway, you had better hit the studio now so that you can try and get the next album out before 2050.

Its not Axl Rose demanding it. Its the lawyer for Guns n Roses accusing Dr.Pepper of fraud. At 1st it was "Free Dr.Pepper for the world" and then once they put their foot in their mouths it became "Free Dr.Pepper for whoever gets on the site within a day !"
Here the company pretty much fucks a lot of people and its Axl Rose's fault. Get a grip people. If he forces them too they may have to run the promotion longer than the day they screwed people out of.
And you can claim you bought the album for a free Dr.Pepper again.

Wow, do you not understand how real life works? GnR's lawyer can't just freestyle and make his/her own decisions. Of course Axl either initiated or authorized this "demand".

This could have easily been solved had they (dr. pepper) made a coupon for best buy to distribute with the album on the day it was released. Instead of driving traffic to their website

this is a bullshit article. I have already read the news and Axl didn't have anything to do with it. It was someone else who had to do with the band, this just gives him another bad publicity article

Dr Pepper should be sued. they have not kept their word here. they said "eveyone" not "who ever can register fast enough". I hope axl nails them hard.

Publicity rights hey, let's see Dr. Pepper isn't using his name for a financial gain, and there is no intent to harm... Wow, welcome to the overburndened court system cluttered with wasteful lawsuts.

you ididots know nothing about the law. the terminology was vague enough that no court could be reasonably expected to see that Dr. Pepper didn't deliver.

It's amazing that Axl is bitching considering Dr. Pepper promoted this giveaway before the album was released... which means he had plenty of time to complain and STOP the giveaway BEFORE the album came out... BUT why do that? people wouldn't talk... as a result, we are talking... damn you Axl.
