Billboard announces Top 10 Grossing Tours Of 2008

Based on ticket sales from November of 2007 through November of this year, Billboard has announced the Top 10 grossing tours of the year. Interesting how many classic bands dominated the list again.

Top 10 Grossing Tours Of 2008

Bon Jovi's - $210.6 million
Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band's - $204.5 (also $31 million for last year, so the total tour was $235 million)
Madonna - $162 million (This tour is still-underway)
The Police - $150 million (Second leg of their reunion tour for last year)
Celine Dion - $91 million
Kenny Chesney - $86 million
Neil Diamond - $81.2 million
Spice Girls - $70 million
Eagles - $56.6 million
Rascal Flatts - $55.8 million

I'm not sure what this is an indictment of more: the inflation of ticket prices for top-dollar acts, or the complete inability of the music industry to create new artists that people actually want to see in large numbers.

The Spice Girls made the top 10? Jesus I had to check to make sure it was 2008, and not 1998.

I had no idea they were even back together, let alone touring...

The music can be fifty years old but if its good its going to find new listeners every single day.
