Kanye West: God Chose Me
Posted by Mitch Michaels on 03.03.2009

If you thought yesterday's quotes weren't enough, here's more Kanye from his VH1 Storytellers taping, which aired over the weekend.

Kanye said: "God chose me. He made a path for me. I am God's vessel. But my greatest pain in life is that I will never be able to see myself perform live."

He explained: "I do have an ego and rightfully so. I think people should have an ego. Think about it – I don't offend people, I don't put anyone down. Do I name names or bring people down? That's not my thing. But I give myself big-ups. I feel good about the music I make."

He also spoke about some of his past comments that could have been perceived as 'homophobic': "If a black man from Chicago was taught to stand far away from gay people because he didn't want to be accused of being gay. What would happen if he'd run into a gay man? What's the talk? What would he learn, what would I learn? I learned that people in Chicago were wrong and I had been an asshole all along."

I'm so glad he's god's chosen one, because I definitely don't want him down here with me.

Grandiose statements like this make me wonder: is Kanye really this gigantic egomaniac who "loves him some him," as T.O. might say? Or is he just saying crazy shit like this to make people talk about him? Wouldn't that be silly if after all the negativity said about Kanye for being the most self-obsessed delusional in all of music, he was just playing a character like Shawn Michaels or Mr. Perfect...

...of course, I really doubt it, and I have apologies to fans of Shawn and Perfect for comparing them to Kanye at the ready in case I get attacked. Something to think about, though...

If Kanye West is God's vessel, then I pray for an iceberg.

Kanye masturbates to his own picture and claims he's the best lover he's ever had.

If someone tells you to go ride a dick and you're able to do it yourself, you might Kanye West.

^*might be

That's funny because maybe only then would he realize he sucks live as compared to (deep breath)

50 Cent, Eminem, Dre, T.I., Flo Rida, Diddy, Usher, Ne-Yo, Rihanna Beater, Rihanna herself, and any other performer with a loose affiliation to rap music, not to mention the big ones who are good rappers and crush live like...

Jay-Z, Young Jeezy, and Lil Wayne.

Fuck Kanye.

kanye obviously hasn't read my reviews of his music.

let me take his ego down a couple of notches...

The song should move me like I'm listening to Freddie Mercury belt out "Who Wants To Live Forever." Instead, I'm stuck trying to sympathize with a heartbroken Wall-E.

West needs to learn that his gimmick may work in fun songs like Gold Digger, but when you have something of substance to share, stop with the bullshit. Even the line "I'm cold" has gone from two syllables to 174.

When he gruffs up his voice to emote anger and frustration, it's laughable. West doesn't sound like he's feeling blue, he sounds like Buster Poindexter – and feeling Hot, Hot, Hot!
