Who's gone from bad to good in the MU, plus tid bits on movies & more
BUSIEK & PEREZ
On Saturday, George Perez and Kurt Busiek teamed up again in Texas for a panel. The two fielded questions from the audience about AVENGERS/JLA, inspirations, pet peeves, and more.
After greeting the fans and discussing a few things, the attendants were able to ask Perez and Busiek questions on anything and everything. Here’s a portion of the transcript of the Q and A session:
You know the AVENGERS/JLA limited series has been very popular and also has been a great read. This series actually has made me want more stuff from these two for Marvel. They’ve worked together on a few projects of course for Marvel. I would want both back with the AVENGERS after this limited series. They did a kick ass job with the series and they would really make things interesting and really great for the title. I’m not saying Austen and the current artists can’t do that but these two are the two I would love see doing the title again. Of course it may happen and it may not. Let’s just say I love this limited series and know most fans feel the same so if Marvel did move to have them back with the AVENGERS I can see a lot of fans following them. X-MEN: EVOLUTION
X-Men: Evolution recently departed the Kids' WB! schedule, but the animated series will be returning to Cartoon Network. The show will air Mondays through Thursdays at 10 p.m. (ET).
-Rundown of episodes:
"Strategy X" on Monday, Jan. 5; "The X-Impulse" on Tuesday, Jan. 6; "Rogue Recruit" on Wednesday, Jan. 7; and "Mutant Crush" Thursday, Jan. 8.
"Speed and Spyke" on Monday, Jan. 12; "Middleverse" on Tuesday, Jan. 13; "Turn of the Rogue" on Wednesday, Jan. 14; "Spykecam" on Thursday, Jan. 15.
"Survival of the Fittest" on Monday, Jan. 19; "Shadowed Past" on Tuesday, Jan. 20; "Grim Reminder" on Wednesday, Jan. 21; "The Cauldron, Pt. 1" on Thursday, Jan. 22.
"The Cauldron, Pt. 2" on Monday, Jan. 26; "Growing Pains" on Tuesday, Jan. 27; "Power Surge" on Wednesday, Jan. 28; and "Bada Bing, Bada Boom" on Thursday, Jan. 29.
Thanks to Comics Continuum for the list.
Tthis is good news for EVOLUTION fans. At least they get the repeats back on Cartoon Network. It may also have to do with the complaining by the fans. So the more fans that support the show might help bring it back to WB and more. MOVIE NEWS & NOTES
Stan Lee recently told the Hollywood North Report about his upcoming cameo appearance in Sony's SPIDER-MAN movie sequel next July. "The line that I say is 'SPIDER-MAN stole that kid's pizzas!'" Lee recited. Despite previously stating that he wanted to have cameo roles in the first of each of Marvel's upcoming budding film franchises, Lee will not be appearing in Artisan's THE PUNISHER next April.
You know I think Stan mostly has been appearing in only his creations’ first movies though. Which might explain the no appearance in PUNISHER. Remember he didn’t really appear in BLADE or BLADE II either. Both where created by other writers. Stan has appeared in SPIDER-MAN, X-MEN, X-2, HULK, and DAREDEVIL though. So I would say expect to see Stan again soon not only in SPIDER-MAN II but most likely FANTASTIC FOUR.
The first trailer for SPIDER-MAN 2 will premiere online on December 15, two days before the trailer is shown in theaters in front of The LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RETUEN OF THE KING.
I expected as much with this trailer. I was thinking the best movie to put it out with and LOTR is the perfect one to put the first trailer before. The trailer should really be interesting to catch and it should be online of course before that.
NECA again will be providing licensed products from the SPIDER-MAN franchise.
This was logical since the first movie used them as well. Why change something that worked? You don’t want to do that and make things worse. This was smart. MARVEL NEWS & NOTES
Assistant Editor Marc Sumerak has resigned his position at the publisher to return to his home state to get married!
Congrats to him. I hope everything goes well for him and that he has a great life. Also I hope they find a good replacement for him as well.
Sean Chen’s next project for Marvel will be X-MEN: THE END, another in a series of Marvel projects involving the final stories of its characters. It will also be written by Chris Claremont.
Great pairing for this THE END series. I would hope this one is done right. The X-MEN are very popular and I believe this one is the one fans want to read the most. Remember being the most popular title there will be a lot more expected for this one. VIEWER MAIL
