Jon Huntsman Set To End Presidential Run, Endorse Romney
Posted by Ashish on 01.15.2012

Jon Huntsman is set to end his run for President and endorse Mitt Romney on Monday, a somewhat surprising move since he vowed after New Hampshire to continue on.

While this is purely speculation, I'd guess the Romney campaign got into Huntsman's ear with some promises. His departure greatly helps Romney in South Carolina, because Huntsman's moderate votes will almost all go directly to Romney in the state. A win in SC would basically wrap the nomination up for Romney.

Ashish again has no idea what he is talking about. 19% of Huntsman supporters said their second choice was Ron Paul. And why no mention of SC State Senator Tom Davis' endorsement of Ron Paul today?

A whole 19%? So not even 1 out of 5? Gee, I wonder why people aren't rushing to report that.

Why no mention of Senator whatshisname endorsing Paul? Because no one gives a shit and the article is about a contender for the presidential race dropping out, not about what candidate senators are endorsing.

Scott B needs to lighten up with his MSNBC nonsense.

An actual _state senator_ in South Carolina endorsed Ron Paul? A full 1/170th of the state legislature of our 24th most populous state? Stop the presses! That news is a main event in any arena in the country!

19% of Huntsman supporters said their second choice was Ron Paul? Is that supposed to be a majority or something? You realize that most Huntsman supporters aren't Libertarians, right? Huntsman is a moderate conservative, just like Romney is.

And yeah, somehow, a state senator endorsing a presidential candidate isn't exactly national news. I just can't figure out why...

Ron Paul is the wildcard in SC. I do suspect he'll gain just as much as Romney from the Huntsman endorsement which puts Paul in a dead heat with Gingrich for 2nd place in SC. If Paul can muster that, it'll be Paul vs. Romney and (although he won't win Florida), he'll sweep California and Texas with ease.

This may very well ruin Colbert running now.

Mitt Romney and Jon Huntsman must be aliens from outer space of some kind, they sure aren't working for mankind's benefit. I expect Romney will literaly ABSORB Huntsman physically into his person as a traditional (alien) way to gain more momentum. The human members of the Hunstman family, having outlived their purpose, will be sold directly to the Catholic slavers and pedophiles at Vatican City to be broken in and then dispersed fairly throughout the clergy.

Ah yes...the liberal trolls out in force. Each nominee met with Tom Davis and were all trying to get his endorsement. Why? He's got sway with the Tea Party unlike Jon Huntsman who no one knows nor cares about.

And for the mouth breathers and and adults living in their parents' basement:

CNN: Referenced Sen. Davis as a “rising star”.

POLITICO: Named him as one of its “50 politicos to watch”.

Matt Moore, SCGOP Executive Director: “Senator Tom Davis’ fiscal conservative credentials are outstanding” and more recently, “Any candidate would do well to gain his endorsement.”

Rick Santorum’s quotes: “To get an endorsement by someone like Tom Davis is a big deal.” “It would speak volumes to folks and make them take notice and give us a look.”

And for the dumbass that failed reading comprehension - this isn't about Senator Bumfuck and who he was endorsing, it's about one of the men running for the Republican nomination for the Presidential race dropping out.

Who a senator is endorsing is totally irrelevant to the article, unless that senator is someone dropping out of the race for the Presidential nomination.

I know you Ron Paul people are dense, but I didn't think you were this bad.

Except it's a State Senator with a lot of pull with voters. You know, there's a state primary where a state senator has far more sway than some endorsement from a candidate who barely polled above a piece of crap nationally.

Hey Michael you going to hold a funeral when RP loses?

Or, are you moving to another country because we are all dumb and doomed like you keep saying?

Please say it's #2...

.... and you still don't understand. I love Ron Paul supporters, I really do. When they start talking, they do their cause more harm than even the truth about Ron Paul can do.
