Two News Items That Shouldn't Concern You

With all that we are forced to concern ourselves with on a day to day basis it can get to be too much. I give you two things that you should not longer worry about.
This week, instead of focusing all of my attention on one topic that has either been bothering me or been making me think a lot I have decided to take a look at a two different news items that you really shouldn't think about any more even if the media is trying to convince you otherwise. (Holy God that was a long sentence).
John Kerry Ever Winning The Presidency
Well, I guess it is now official. John Kerry will never be president. Ever.
First off, America is a land of winners. We love to be number one. It doesn't matter what his actual views are, I have a tough time believing that America would want to vote for a loser. And that is what Kerry is. He lost the first time, and will have that as part of his being. I can't say for certain that anyone has ever run for the presidency and lose only to win when he tried again, but I really don't think that in our culture we'll desire that in a candidate. It is a shame. We could see it as tenacity, or a display of real love for his country. But in this day of negative ad campaigns we won't see it this way. We'll view him as a leader who can't get his people behind him. A loser.
Honestly, I didn't really think that he ever had a chance before, but now it is destined to be so.
Besides the fact that, by definition, John Kerry is a loser, there is a more current problem. I am referring, of course, to Kerry's little outburst where he seemed to insinuate that only dumb, uneducated people join the military and then eventually get deployed to Iraq. Let's analyze this a little bit:
The Joke: Kerry, in a speech, said "You know, education -- if you make the most of it, you study hard and you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well." The punch line? "If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq." HAAA!!! That is comedy!
Humor: Ok, so I "get" the joke. Or at least what he was intending to say. He was trying to make a joke about Bush's inadequate handling of the War in Iraq. It is because of Bush's lackluster "education" that he made mistakes and then he makes the mistake of going to war on baseless grounds. But people, this joke is not funny. I understand what the punch line was meant to convey, but where is the humor? Come on, all I'm saying is that if you are going to make a joke, make it funny.
Impact: I don't doubt that John Kerry is a smart man. I believe that he is educated and intelligent. But I also believe that he makes mistakes in the political arena. He makes a lot of mistakes. John Kerry is not a great speaker "off the cuff." (Hell, John Kerry isn't great reading lines either.) He says things that while not necessarily wrong, don't sound right. Who could forget the brilliant "I actually did vote for the $87 billion before I voted against it"?
This mistake is the perfect ammunition for the Republicans. In the middle of a contested war, Kerry now looks like he is saying that "our boys" are dumb and uneducated. This is all excellent for the Democrats right now. And it is only exacerbated by the fact that Kerry refuses to apologize.
I don't think that this will have any real impact on the midterm elections, but I really do think that it will lead to the end of his presidential aspirations.
Presenting An ID When Voting
I have never fully understood why this is a problem for some people. I fully understand why this is a problem for others.
The idea of presenting an ID should be a huge issue for anyone that is illegally in the United States. If you believe that you should be allowed to vote but you are not a legal citizen, then presenting an ID will be a problem for you. And when your state says that they require an ID to vote, I can totally understand why you'd be upset. At the same time, I don't sympathize with you at all. You are not a citizen of this country. You do not get the right to vote. Suck it up.
However, if you were born in the US (to take the easiest example) then I cannot understand why you would have a problem showing some sort of identification to prove you are who you claim.
Some might claim that this is voter intimidation. I can not understand this at all. Why would giving proof that you are you be intimidating? Is it intimidating to show ID to your employer when you get a job? It is intimidating to show ID when you get pulled over? No. Or course it isn't. Then why is voting different. Nobody knows who you are going to vote for. All they know is that you are going to vote for someone at this particular location. So what?
Others (and sometimes the same people) claim that asking for the proof of identification is racist. Nonsense. It may very well be true that this sort of obligation on voters affects the poor more. Maybe it is these voters who don't have driver's licenses. However, these states have other forms of identification. These voters pay bills, live in domiciles. So, they get mail. They have a social security card. If these people really do care about voting, then they should get a hold of something that will allow them to vote. They can be black, brown, white, etc. It doesn't matter as long as they can show that they are the person who they say they are.
So now you have two less things that you ever need to think about. Kerry will never be president. And ID requirements are no big deal. Go back to thinking about the tough issues such as abortion, illegal immigration, taxes, the war, and the national debt.

Our culture rules and the rest of the world wants to be just like us. Even Radulich agrees. READ!
My favorite part of Jason's latest column are the plugs for Mark and Brandon. That, unlike John Kerry, is funny!
I do a whole column on feminism and how there are prejudices in our society last week and then this week our lovable fool Joe ask for a poll questioning who is the "hottest female politician." Ignorance, they name is Joseph.
And finally, don't forget to check out my latest online venture. While I agree with Jason and hate the title, I unlike Jason totally blame Brandon. But despite the title, the column is pretty good and I really endorse it.
That is all for now my followers. Know that I love you all.
Until next time…believe nothing unless you read it here.
