New Connecticut Poll Shows Stunning News For Obama
Posted by Ashish on 01.29.2008

A new Rasmussen poll of Connecticut (one of the February 5th states) out today has a pretty stunning result -- Clinton 40%, Obama 40%. Clinton has led by 20 or more points in basically every poll taken of the state prior to this one. The other interesting thing is the poll was taken prior to the Ted Kennedy endorsement. Kennedy is very popular in the Northeast and one would assume that if he has any impact at all, it would be in a state like Connecticut.

If Obama can make states like Connecticut competitive on February 5th, it could really cause major shakeups. The Northeast is supposed to be a Clinton stronghold and she is relying on wins there. Obama winning Connecticut would be perceived as a major upset. Obama will have to pick off a few states that Clinton is favored in to remain close on February 5th and this could be one of those states.

Ashish,

You seem more pessimistic about Obama's Feb 5 chances than I can understand.
First, Hillary should win NY and NJ - her backyard. Second, Obama has to be
favored in AL, TN, GA, and Illinois. Throw in his strong support in Missouri,
Mass (Kerry and the Kennedys), Arizona and even Alaska he should win 50% of the
states. With the proportional delegate count if he dominates some states such
as Alabama and loses closely in CA he should be poised to come out in at worst
a dead heat. If Hillary smashes him in CA the delegate count might be out of
whack, but if he wins a lot of states the argument can be made as he goes
forward that he is THE general election candidate. Also, I think he could win
Arkansas. Such a win would be shocking and humiliating for the Clintons. He
will likely keep Arkansas close at least. Part of me even wonders if Al Gore
will endorse right after the Super Bowl or something as a final blow to the
Clintons. Who knows? I think momentum is a nice thing to have an Obama has it
for the time being.

Dan, I am going by available polling which is the only way to determine where
people stand. Right now, Obama is over 10 points behind in AL, TN, AZ, and
Missouri, and over 20 points behind in Mass. Now that could change, since most
of those polls were taken pre-SC/Kennedy. The states Obama is known to be up in
right now are: IL, KA, GA, and CO. He also has good chances at winning: Alaska,
Idaho, Alabama, Minnesota, Utah, Arizona, Missouri, and North Dakota. He
probably needs to win 10 states on 2/5 and perform well enough to rack up
delegates elsewhere. He has a shot, but Clinton is the frontrunner.

Oh and of course he also might win CT. That means he has a pretty good shot at
winning 13 states on 2/5. Anything 10 or above will be good. Below 10 will
probably mean he is finished.

Makes sense. I suppose he has to roll up his sleeves and get some work down. I
just figure that the endorsements from the AZ governor means he has access to
her organization etc, but AZ could be like Nevada. TN, GA and Mass seem like
better places to make gains than the southwest.

Truthful things need to come forward about Obama.

His stand on the Iraq War is that he never would have went there, and now that
we are there he will immediately withdraw all troops. If this is done the
United States will give the image of being defeated by Al Queada and the
Taliban. The ramifications are bone chilling.

Whether you like or hate Hillary Clinton the fact is is that she will be the
nominee for the Democrats.

You won't get anyone to ever admit this but the times still dictate that if
Obama was elected President this country would face 4 years of racial
turmoil.
This isn't being racist,I'm not, this is being realistic.
The country simply is not ready yet for this change. It's too advanced. Not the
STATUS QUO, which is the town we all still live in.
I'm not even sure that the U.S. is ready for a woman President. We just
aren't that understanding in either case yet. Stand up folks and admit what I
say is true.

In the end in November we are probably looking at McCain or Rommney winning. 4
more years of constant struggle.

Well it seems that as of tonight we are going to have to listen to what ALL
candidates have to say. Maybe now they will finally address the issues and stop
the childish bickering.

Everyone who will cast a vote in November deserves to hear their stand and not
continually be spit in the face by ALL candidates.

Why does it appear that in every picture or video of Obama, he is looking down
his nose at everyone. Who the hell does he think he is?

Obama is a boob and a windbag.
