First Puerto Rico Poll: Clinton Holds Lead Over Obama
Posted by Ashish on 04.10.2008
First Puerto Rico poll shows potentially bad news for Clinton, plus another new PA poll...
The first poll of the Puerto Rico Democratic primary is out and shows Hillary Clinton leading Barack Obama 50% to 37%. While at this point, any poll showing Clinton leading is probably good for her, let's keep in mind that Puerto Rico is a contest she was expected to win huge and is a place she is relying on to help make up the gap between her and Obama since the territory has 55 delegates (making it the most valuable contest after North Carolina and Indiana on May 6th). She has already sent Bill Clinton to campaign there and is hoping for a big margin win there. Now before Clinton supporters jump on me for saying a poll with her leading is bad, let me explain. If she is only leading by 13 points two months out when Obama has not even campaigned in the state, it puts the contest very much in jeopardy and doesn't make it seem like a place Clinton can wrack up a huge win. We've seen Obama make up roughly 15-20 points in virtually every contest once campaigning starts. The areas Clinton has won in, she held larger than 20 point leads six+ weeks out and managed to hold on. Virtually everywhere where she led by 15 points or less with six weeks before voting, she has ended up losing. With a huge 20+ point victory now unlikely in Pennsylvania, the Clinton camp is running out of places to make up their deficit. Just surviving and winning a few states here and there by small margins doesn't mean anything anymore because she is already significantly behind. She now has to make up ground, and she can only do that by winning areas by 20-30+ point margins like Obama has done in over 20 contests. That is why he has a significant lead now. Winning by small margins results in almost the same number of delegates being awarded to both candidates and thus isn't going to help Clinton make up any ground.
TIME also has a new poll of PA out today showing Clinton leading 44% to 38% which more or less is in line with what we've been seeing, that being a fairly close race in PA with Clinton still slightly ahead.
Thank you Puerto Rico for voting for Hillary Clinton!

Hillary's lead in Puerto Rico shows that we are strongly supporting her and we'll give her the victory in PR. Hillary 2008! Puerto Rico, USA the 51st State!!!

Hillary Clinton doesn't care about the United States. She only cares about her ego. We've already had that kind of president for the last 8 years. It's time for a change. I believe my countrymen in Puerto Rico will vote for the right candidate, and that candiate is Obama.

Nice and fresh information about PR primary-but the simple truth is that it will all be academic. Hillary will drop out of the race after May 6 when she loses NC by 20 points and ties or worse in Indiana. This thing is as good as over. It's only a few weeks now-and I really think Hillary herself (and millions of others) will be relieved. Let's get on the the general election.

The Democratic party needs to unite behind Barack Obama. We can't have 2 presidential candidates. Barack Obama is the candidate who can beat McCain and get a win for the Democrats in November. Barack Obama can win the States of Colorado, Wisconsin, Iowa, Oregon, Nevada, New Mexico, Montana, Virginia, Minnesota, California and New York and all of our traditional democrat states. Barack Obama is a much stronger candidate then Hillary because he can unite the Democrat party and he can win in November. I like Hillary and the Clintons because I am a Democrat, but Barack Obama is the candidate who can win in November.
VOTE FOR BARACK OBAMA IN PUERTO RICO, AND LETS GET A DEMOCRAT WIN IN NOVEMBER!

We need to get behind a nominee quick if we are going to put a democrat in the white house. McCain will keep our troops in Iraq and other places to die, excludes cancer patients from insurance, will do virtually nothing about the housing crises, deport all of the illegal immigrants here in America, etc. If we don't get behind a candidate fast, we will lose the white house. Come on America, its not like HIllary won't be doing good for this country in a different seat. Obama is our man for the job. It is nothing racist or sexest, its the truth, plain and simple. This election is too long and drawn out. We need to get on with it and start showing America the differences between putting McCain or a democrat in the white house. McCain has too much ammunition against the Clinton's. Her lead strategist is still working for her dampaign and her husband agrees with the trade deal in Colombia. Everyone knows putting the Clinton's back in the white house is against everything the American dream is about. She was born an heiress and met Bill at Princeton. If it wasn't for him no one would know her as first lady. Being in the white house prior to presidency is not criteria for being elected president. Obama wants equality for all. He is of mixed decent and understands the broader picture of America today. Do the right thing and get behind Obama and lets help put a democrat in the seat. VOTE OBAMA 08!!! Its our only shot..........VOTE OBAMA 08!!!!!

Obama eats 13 point leads for breakfast.

If you feel our health care is so bad, why don't YOU pay higher taxes instead of burdening the rest of us. Obama should be forced to state that if he wants universal health care, only those who support it should have to pay higher taxes to fund it. Remember, there is no such thing as free health care.

This war in the democratic party is exactly why I don't believe in politics. Cause whether or not Clinton theoretically or factually took money from the poor, Every politician does it, regardless of if you are poor or rich. Its a matter of whether or not the "Media" informs us about it. Or else why would people become a politician in the first place.
If only Obama and Clinton realize that this isn't really a war between them, its more of a war with the Republicans, then this election wouldn't have gotten out of hand. This past lately, all we see is them questioning their patriotism to the US and their people.
I know this is the run for PRESIDENT, but just remember that if the democratic party wants to win this election, Obama and Clinton needs to stop exposing the NEGATIVES. I can assure you that the Republicans are paying close attention to them.

GO OBAMA! GO CLINTON! GO USA!
People are dying every single minute in a war conceived wit lies and greed.
People need health care to cure the rotting teeth in their mouths causing heart disease.
This election will be fair, and whoever is nominated will be by the people and for the people.
Of McCain were nominated the draft would be reinstated.

Honestly, it's time for Hillary to surrender and unite with the Democratic party instead of keeping a death grip on her ego. Hillary reminds me of the character, "Peyton" in the movie, "The Hand That Rocks the Cradle". Just as devious and thinking only of herself. Just remember at the end of the movie ... she's pushed out the window, impaled by the fence that Solomon built. OBAMA 08'!!!

I'm 26 years old and I'm 100 percent Puerto Rican and proud and I find it said that we don't support our own people. Yes, there is black blook running through our veins! Surprise.
Hillary has shown that she likes to play dirty while Obama has remained poise and has shown great leadership through all the trials and tribulations in this campaign.
Because of him I just want to be a better person.
