Posted by Ashish on 05.07.2008
CBS, NBC report that Clinton insiders have told them the race is over and they are discussing the exit strategy with Hillary...
This is from The Page's breakdown of tonight's evening newscasts.
ABC, CBS, NBC pushed the envelope and reported some Clinton insiders believe the race is over.
CBS: Reported "several top advisers are suggesting to Hillary Clinton that she stay in through West Virginia, Kentucky and Oregon and then in two weeks, gracefully bow out." Also reported that "one of the Clintons' top strategists told CBS News that he had told Senator Clinton, ‘You can't win this nomination.'"
NBC: Reported that prominent Clinton supporters say they are looking for an exit strategy before June 3 "to protect her political future and her husband's legacy."

In a way, it's kind of sad. Clinton had this nomination in her grasp this time
last year, and then this Obama comes out of nowhere and sweeps Democrats off of
their feet.

If Hillary had any guts, she should sue Mark Penn for malpractice. It was his
"tough as nails" strategy that really damaged her image (not to
mention Penn's conflict of interest).
With that being said, Hilary probably didn't stand a chance to begin with. She
was inevitable as long as there wasn't a sufficiently strong challenger. She
had the name recognition, but she also had tremendous negatives going into the
race. Once the challenger rose in the form of Obama, she was consistently on
the ropes. Only with the TX, OH and PA victories did it look as if she could
pull the upset (at least as far as pulling close enough to make the
superdelegates pause). But the momentum was on Obama's side from the IA
caucuses, and never really slowed down.
Yet Hillary never helped herself with her and her husband's comments,
essentially dismissing those states that voted for Obama, being either largely
African American or caucus states. If she had managed to swing the
superdelegates before or at the convention, Many young and minority Democrats
would be highly alienated, probably staying home, and McCain probably would
have won. About the only thing Hillary would have brought to the table would
be the fighting spirit, and the willingness to take on the Republicans in a
take-no-prisoners approach. McCain would not have gone that far (although many
of his allies would), and Hill could have really made this a nasty campaign.

That's right HBK support Clinton, but when your choice does not finish first, go
ahead and switch teams..then you have no right to cvomplain when the disaster
that is the Bush doctrine continues for another 4 years.
