Here Comes The Onslaught...
Posted by Ashish on 07.02.2008

Politico reports that the Republican National Committee has reserved large ad buys in four states -- Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. It's probably safe to assume that these ads will go after Obama hard on the latest Republican line of attack -- that he is a "typical" politician.

You have to wonder if that's the best line of attack, considering that this is a year where if it comes down to typical politician vs. typical politician, the Democratic "typical" politician will still be the favorite to win. Of course, the Republicans tend to find ways to win general elections, so let's see what happens.

Good point. I just do not understand this. Not saying it won't work, but what exactly does the Republican party gain by proving Obama doesn't have magic fairy dust coming out of his ass? You know who else is similarly rectally impaired? John McCain. Why should it possibly work to take the luster away from the other candidate, leaving him only as ordinary as your own? If I were selling one kind of chips and my ads were all about how another kind of chips wasn't as good as you think, but rather just ordinary chips, it'd be safe to assume I was selling some pretty ordinary chips, n'est pas? This really shouldn't work.

Again, as you say, that's not to say it won't.
