McCain's Strange Strategy

What's he thinking?
You really have to wonder about McCain's strategy of spending time in Colombia and Mexico while Obama is visiting red states he wants to flip like Montana and North Dakota. McCain is the underdog and needs to be spending every minute he has in swing states, not taking trips to places like Colombia which aren't really related to a major issue in this election. Places like Iraq and Afghanistan are different since they are so closely tied to the political discussion. Obama is going to get an enormous amount of media attention in North Dakota, for example, for visiting during July 4th weekend while McCain is off in other countries further solidying himself as the candidate who cares more about foreign policy than the economy even though the economy is by far the #1 issue for voters.
I was listening to some pundit on some channel , According to the pundit , McCain's visits to latin america are going to be covered by spanish media very well. I guess its part of their strategy to run ads in the spanish language media while candidate gets coverage.
It has to be seen how much it helps ...

First, Obama isn't going to flip Montana or North Dakota. There are several months to go until November, the race will tighten somewhat once the ads and campaigns get pushed into high gear and Obama will lose them both. Liberal Democrats simply do not win there, and once McCain reminds them of Obama's position on gun control, abortion, etc. they will swing back to the red column.
That said, McCain truly is running a bizarre campaign at the moment. While he won't lose Montana or North Dakota, he might lose Ohio, New Mexico, and even Virginia. He needs to get to work pronto and talk about why Obama is a wrong and dangerous choice. Or he'll lose. It's a simple as that.
