Obama could be planning MAJOR change to Democratic convention...
The Associated Press reports that Obama is considering a major change to the Democratic convention -- giving his speech at a football stadium and NOT the convention. The Obama camp is considering holding Obama's historic speech at the 76,000 seat Invesco Field in Denver and NOT the actual Democratic National Convention which will be held at the Pepsi Center.
It's an interesting move for a few reasons, the main one being that it would be the first time since 1932 that the Democratic nominee doesn't deliver his speech at the convention and would serve as a symbolic change by Obama from the Democratic party of the past. The idea would create an impressive visual and put some pressure on John McCain and the Republicans to deliver their own visually impressive speech a week later at their convention. There is some concern in Republican circles about the type of speech McCain will be able to give at the Republican Convention following his last major televised speech on the final night of the Democratic primaries in which he appeared before a questionable green backdrop and delivered a speech that drew criticism from the left and right alike.
