Brilliant Barack Picks Biden
Posted by Nicholas Joseph on 08.24.2008

Barack Obama's pick of Joe Biden for vice president, in two simple words, is strategic and brilliant. On one hand it deflects and deflates Hillary's shadowy machinations of placing her name in nomination, and on the other, gives the status quo comfortable leverage to embrace Obama's message of change. More importantly, the selection of Biden, like Hurricane Fay, blows away the core message of McCain's military prowess and places the campaigns on parallel ground.

Biden is a seasoned stalwart of the military. He is a Washington insider, but by dint of his longevity as a Delaware senator, he has not been corrupted by the influence of big money and power. He is a simple man who takes the train home. A man who cannot be bought or sold, neither can be detracted by the trappings of political office. While he does not fit the common profile of regular VPs as hatchet men, Biden is an experienced politician who knows how to demolish the opponent and keep a smile on his face. If there were any lingering doubts that he is up to the job, his acceptance speech using McCain's own words against him is just the opening salvo in a contest in which the past collides with the future. If there were any flesh left on McCain's wheel chair bound campaign, Biden will ensure that he stays rocking. McCain may willingly forget how many homes he owns but he will constantly be reminded that Biden has the numbers.

In the coming weeks you will hear some of the pontificators and pundits give all kinds of rationale why Obama went for Biden. They will attempt to make him appear weak and lacking in cojones. They will try to demean his judgment to fit with the script that has been playing out since he announced his candidacy. An accurate analysis of Obama's choice will reveal that he is a man of his word. He has skills, judgment and the experience to pick a man who complements his candidacy. By going with Biden, Obama sends a clear signal to America that he is a man confident in his leadership abilities. He wants a partner that he can depend on at every level to talk to him fearlessly, boldly and with courage. He was not looking for someone that will tell him ‘Yes Sir,' when in fact he needed to tell him how badly things were on the ground. Obama understands profoundly the dangers facing governance in the 21st Century. In the last eight years we have witnessed a detached administration and a level of mismanagement that has literally cost lives. The tragedy of Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana must never happen again in America and Obama did not want a yes man. Too many members of the Bush Administration have simply refused to talk straight to their boss. So much so, that any time Bush told someone they were doing a ‘great job,' they were subsequently dismissed for poor performance.

By picking Biden, Obama demonstrates that he wants an America that changes the way things are handle administratively in Washington. In addition, he is also thinking globally by telecasting a powerful message to the world that America intends to be engaged and completely plugged in. Biden, with his foreign affairs credentials, will provide reassurance to the world that America is again ready to play a leading role. As you looked at the ticket on stage you could not miss the symbiosis and the lack of any manufactured emotions. Those were real people concerned about the future direction of their country and genuinely wanting an opportunity to change America's focus for the good.

Given America's racist history, Obama, the first African-American with a real shot at the White House, will never be given his full, duly deserved respect. The media always want to make it appear that Obama is weak. They are insistent on keeping this man of color ‘in his place.' He cannot be allowed to get too ‘uppity.' The perception must be reinforced that he cannot win without a white man's help.
They came to this campaign with a calculated and misconstrued profile and they have attempted unsuccessfully to pigeon hole him into the unmatched script. At first he was not black enough for some. Then he was a Muslim, as if to suggest that being Muslim is a crime against humanity. When that did not work, he became the most ‘radical' of human beings that shared and believed in Rev. Wright's unpopular view of America. They have questioned his patriotism, as if to suggest that he is not an American. The stop the ‘Radical Obama Express,' has been transformed into the ‘Stop the Anointed One,' Express and Sean Hannity continues to demonstrate a level of confusion and plain ignorance. The lines are simply out of sync, for certainly Obama cannot be radical and anointed at the same time.

The traditional media, like the Clinton News Network (CNN), ABC, NBC and the rest will never admit that Obama is a significantly gifted, talented and a brilliant politician. He is above racial profiling and he has, to this point, run a marvelous and transformative campaign that got rid of the toxicity of the Clintons. His VP choice reveals more about the quality of his thinking than the usual pandering for votes that characterizes such decisions. It's a historic ticket that debunks old stereotypes and showcases an America, whose best days are still to come.

Biden is right: "This is no ordinary election," and Obama is no ordinary president in waiting. This is a contest for the "restoration of America's soul,' and the Obama-Biden ticket is uniquely and historically significant for this new dispensation.

By the way, I hear the Republicans complaining about how Obama did not choose Hillary Clinton since she is the strongest candidate, having won fifty percent of the vote during the primaries. I submit that since she is such a great candidate, McCain has an excellent opportunity to choose her as his running mate.

What? I thought you were being sarcastic. I dunno about brilliant. Passing over the oppty to guarantee a win at the WH by choosing Hillary makes one seriously wonder about this guy's judgment. A 2% bounce and a news cycle that continues to talk about Hillary and has put the Obama campaign on the defensive..dunno if that's the ticket.

Amen!

That is a wonderful piece to read. If anyone does not know what Amen means "Verily", "Truly", "So be it", and "Let it be".

He chose a dude who actually uses hair-plugs. This lyrical column not withstanding, anyone who would put their faith into a person who looks in the mirror everyday and thinks hair-plugs improve his appearance, makes me wonder.

Only a group of Eastern Liberals would pick two Eastern Liberals for the White House. Let us set the wayback machine. When was the last time a nominee won the White House after choosing one of their primary opponents as running-mate. Hmmmm. And before the 1980 outlier......

When was the last presidential election in which two Eastern liberals won? FDR/Wallace 1940 perhaps? Oops, looks like Wallace was from Texas.

When was the last time two seated senators won Pres/VPres? Keep looking.

Here we go again, Obama clearly stated that his most important, MOST IMPORTANT, vote was against the war in Iraq. He has also clearly stated that the War in Iraq is the, "worst foreign policy mistake", in American history.

Then he picks a running-mate that voted in favor of America's worst foreign policy mistake in direct opposition to Obama's most important vote.

All the while touting his Foreign Policy credentials. I don't care who wins, but that is freaking hilarious.

Hillary could've guaranteed Obama the White House? Uh, she's very unpopular with independents and conservatives. That would never be a guarantee.

Also, how can this be a brilliant VP choice when Biden has said before that Obama has no experience and can't lead the nation effectively?

Besides, even if Biden has the experience, he won't be running the country. It's the President and that's why Obama is sinking in the polls. Once people find out more about his positions, the numbers will continue to decline. If you liberals want higher taxes, go pay them yourselves.

Is this a spoof?? The media is against Obama?!? LOL! Yea ok... if any White candidate attended a racist church for 20 years they'd be run out of the country. Obama is a media sensation, nothing else. He's a fraud that has done nothing.
