Secret Service Debunks
Posted by Chris Connolly on 10.16.2008

After investigating claims by a reporter that someone shouted "kill him" in reference to Barack Obama at a recent McCain/Palin rally, the Secret Service has found that there is no basis for the allegation.

Agent Bill Slavoski said he was in the audience, along with an undisclosed number of additional secret service agents and other law enforcement officers and not one heard the comment.

"I was baffled," he said after reading the report in Wednesday's Times-Tribune.

He said the agency conducted an investigation Wednesday, after seeing the story, and could not find one person to corroborate the allegation other than Singleton.

Slavoski said more than 20 non-security agents were interviewed Wednesday, from news media to ordinary citizens in attendance at the rally for the Republican vice presidential candidate held at the Riverfront Sports Complex. He said Singleton was the only one to say he heard someone yell "kill him."

"We have yet to find someone to back up the story," Slavoski said. "We had people all over and we have yet to find anyone who said they heard it."

What's interesting is that the paper is still standing by the story.

Ok, where's all the retractions from all the peace loving 411 commenters?
C'mon here's your chance to grow a pair and say sorry.

this isn't an anti-mccain/replublican rant or a pro-obama/messiah rant, so don't expect too many posts for this one.

So because only a few people heard it, it's fake?

What about the tons of other instances that are ON Youtube? Or the one on CNN where the woman says she's scared cause he's an "Arab?"...

I know the McCain policy is to blame the media for making up everything and even to say Fox news guys are in the tank for Obama when they say McCain is a joke, but honestly, does anyone NOT believe that these things aren't being said? How many videos do you need as proof?

Well I mean, if only one guy heard it, that's still more proof than there was about the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. And let's face it, that didn't stop us from invading Iraq.

So you believe everything on Youtube? Ha!
There's this little thing on the computer called a video editor where you can actually change things and add things and remove things. You may have heard of it.

You mean McCain supporters didn't eagerly confirm that one of their own called for an assassination? Must be false then. Keep chuggin that Kool Aid!

The point is it wasn't heard by anyone. The press was making it up.

Um, how about if it was a fake, that's a good thing and I'm glad there was an investigation to clear things up?

With a history of progressive leaders being shot in this nation, combined with the vitriol spewed at McCain/Palin rallies to the point where John McCain has to TAKE MICROPHONES AWAY FROM PEOPLE, makes this issue a real threat that has to be dealt with.

If it was a hoax, thank god. But "say sorry" for wanting someone protected?

How about, "go fuck yourself" instead?
