As cool as it is for conservatives to want to sway young people from voting, its the wrong argument to make. Urging people not to vote goes against everything our country was founded on. Instead we should be urging people to be educated on the candidates and issues AS WELL AS registering and showing up.

Should some people just not vote? That answer by itself is always no. Its unpatriotic to suggest otherwise no matter how dumb they are. (Obama is an A-rab, lol!)

I like John Stossel and have long agreed that it's counterproductive to encourage the ignorant to vote. Of course it's total BS to act like young adults comprise the ignorant or are disproportionately so. There are just as many forty something ignorant hillbillies as brain dead young people who will "make their voices heard" on Nov 4th. Nice attempt at cherry picking though. If you want something cherry, just keep chuggin that Kool Aid!

To answer your question: No.

What a stupid question. Everyone should be INFORMED and educated on the issues that matter to them and should vote accordingly.

Frankly I think some people shouldn't do news stories *coughStossassholecough*

People that don't care enough to know anything about their government AREN'T going to vote for the most part. Now, I convinced my friend Melissa to vote, but she supported Obama already. She doesn't even know which political party is which. But she knows she wants to be able to have an abortion if she is raped. She knows she is against unprovoked wars. And she knows that McCain is old and doesn't want Palin as president due to her reputation of not knowing jack OR shit.

But my overall point I guess is that people will vote based on a loose ideology, but the people that REALLY shouldn't vote aren't going to.

Wow. I just lost all respect for John Stossel.

You know what? This is pretty simple. It's our right to vote. So whether you think certain people SHOULD or not, Stossel, is really a moot point.

I would prefer that uneducated people not vote. They are much more likely to vote emotionally, or on a single issue. I want an informed population making the best choices. I don't want to take away anyone's right to vote, but I do wish that people would get a little bit interested in what is going on and learn about the issues. If they can't be bothered, it would be nice if they would do some reflection and figure out whether it's truly in America's interested to vote based on what Ted down the street thinks, and what little bit of the debate you heard with you were driving to the store.

I sometimes get little ballots for the various stocks that I own. I toss them. You know why? Because I don't have a clue what is going on. They want me to choose board members and such. I don't know any of these people, and I'm not going to do the research. So I don't participate. It's counter to the morality we've grown up with as Americans, but it's also responsible.

Man, this is a tough one. One one hand you really want everyone getting out there and using their right to have their voice heard.....but at the same time, do you really wanna know what everyone has to say? Haven't you ever had that friend that no one listens to or ignores cause they are morons and have no clue? Let's be honest, I am a full blooded American, but there are some really stupid people in the good old US.

Then end result is that people should educate themselves before they vote. Maybe there aught to be an exam that people take. It can be something simple like we do with driver's license (they give those to anyone too!) but at least you make sure they get some basic rules down before they get behind the wheel. Maybe voting should be no different.

Funny stuff. A little scary as well.

But let's be honest...how are any of these young, "drugged out" teens at a rock concert any different than Sarah Palin?

Bush Doctrine? Any Supreme Court case other than Roe V Wade? Name one "mavericky" reform John McCain (her running mate, no less) has championed...

Funny how Palin is "ready to be in the Oval" but these guys "shouldn't vote."

I agree 100%. Voting is a choice. If you choose to vote you should choose to educate yourself beforehand so that you could make the right decision. People who vote blindly based on things like political party are part of the reason the country is so fucked up. If you want to vote you should make sure you have the knowledge beforehand. If you're too lazy to look up their policies online or watch the debates then you shouldn't vote.

It's segments like this that make yearn for the good ole days of Dr D.

Man, I would I have loved it if the bassist had've slapped Stossel and yelled "Is this Civic Duty?" as he did it.

You better hope they don't ban a vote on people with IQs. I mean who would vote for Republicans then? Sure maybe a few, but not the hundreds of thousand you can convince that Obama is a muslim based on his name.

Get real. The dumbest voters come from Red states.

Of course you do not want people to vote, you are on the losing team. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

Shouldn't you be so educated to be Vice-President?

No such thing as a "right to vote" jackass...

You shouldn't be able to vote unless you pass the same test immigrants take to achieve US citizenship.

They're are plenty of idiots on both sides. One of the reasons I was so hesitant to vote democrat this year was to be grouped in with a bunch of whiny self-centered celebs.

Hey Goozie, point to one place anywhere where you have a RIGHT to vote! There is no such thing.

I find it amusing that libs lump the evil rich and dumb together as conservative. If they're so dumb, why are they rich? And since you're so smart why are you spending most of your day angry that you're not rich? Very amusing.

"You know what? This is pretty simple. It's our right to vote. So whether you think certain people SHOULD or not, Stossel, is really a moot point.

Guess what Mr.Goozie, you DON'T have the right to vote in a federal election, despite what you learned in guvment skool. Go check your Constitution and get back to me when you find the article and the paragraph.
Hint: I won't hold my breath.
By the way, you are the very type of person we're talking about that shouldn't vote. And I hate to burst your bubble but we're not a democracy either. I know, I know, you didn't mean to learn this much in one day. Will wonders ever cease?
