FOX News: Obama 49%, McCain 40%
Posted by Ashish on 10.22.2008

FOX News: Obama 49%, McCain 40%

The string of bad polling news continues for McCain as every national poll released this week has Obama expanding his lead this week, and all daily trackers (Gallup, Research 2000, Zogby, Rasmussen) except two (Diageo, Battleground) have Obama expanding his lead compared to last week. FOX has Obama's lead growing from 7% to 9%, NBC has it growing from 6% to 10%, and Pew Research has it growing from 10% to 14%.

The main highlight from the FOX News poll is that more Democrats are now supporting Obama than Republicans supporting McCain. This has not happened in awhile. Obama is getting 88% of Democrats while McCain is getting just 83% of Republicans. Bush topped 90% of Republicans in 2004. After months of talk that Obama would not be able to unite the Democratic party, all polls now indicate he has. On the flip side, it's McCain who is struggling to unite the Republican party.

The other big problem for McCain is, once again, Sarah Palin, who has seen her unfavorables skyrocket to 44% in this new poll. Compare that to Barack Obama, whose unfavorables are at just 35%, or Joe Biden, whose unfavorables are at 33%. John McCain's unfavorables have also shot up and are now at 41%.

Obama is also dominating among Independents, 44% to 35%.

35% (including 15% of Republicans) said the Colin Powell endorsement has made them more likely to support Obama, while 25% said it has made them less likely to support him. 37% said it makes no difference.

Other highlights...

ECONOMY - Obama is dominating among those who name the economy as the #1 issue, 56% to 34%.

HEALTHCARE - Again, Obama is dominating, 64% to 25%.

TERRORISM - McCain has a narrow lead, 47% to 41%.

WIVES - 57% have a favorable view of Michelle Obama while 51% have a favorable view of Cindy McCain.

PARTIES - 53% have a favorable view of the Democratic party while 42% have a favorable view of the Republican party.

FAVORABLES - 60% view Obama favorably, a new high, while 55% view McCain favorably.

TRUST - People said they trusted Obama more than McCain, 47% to 43%.

WHO WILL BRING CHANGE - 51% Obama, 43% McCain.

TAXES - 49% like Obama's tax plan best, 37% like McCain's.

IF FOX News says it's Obama 49% and McCain 40% in the polls, it probably means Obama 69% and McCain 20%. LOL

Are you saying CNN is not biased? Just wondering.

Also, Ashish failed to post the latest AP Poll of likely voters which has the race at a tie. I guess the AP is biased now too.
