Palin Cleared
Posted by Chris Connolly on 11.03.2008

From the Anchorage Daily News:

A new report just released -- hours before the polls open on Election Day -- exonerates Gov. Sarah Palin in the Troopergate controversy.

The state Personnel Board-sanctioned investigation is the second into whether Palin violated state ethics law in firing her public safety commissioner, and it contradicts the earlier findings by a special counsel hired by the state Legislature.

Both investigations found that Palin was within her rights to fire Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan.

But the new report says the Legislature's investigator was wrong to conclude that Palin abused her power by allowing aides and her husband, Todd, to pressure Monegan and others to dismiss her ex-brother-in-law, Trooper Mike Wooten. Palin was accused of firing Monegan after Wooten stayed on the job.

It's amazing what happens when investigations are done by independent boards, not partisan hacks. Too bad this comes much too late to repair the damage done to Palin's reputation in this election cycle.

I doubt this little scandal really did a thing to Palin's rep. Her ridiculous raping of the English language, her ass backwards policies, and her inability to stay on message with the McCain campaign all counted more against her than this scandal...a scandal that only people who weren't going to like her anyway cared about at all.

Yeah, she was cleared by her personally instigated commission with members of the Personnel Board picked by herself. The media really dropped the ball on this one.

"Too bad this comes much too late to repair the damage done to Palin's reputation in this election cycle."

Her reputation as an idiot is irreparable. It's her own fault.

Did the second investigation conclude that her allowing her husband and aides to pressure Monegan was ethical?

You are aware that the "partisan hacks" were 10 republicans to 4 democrats, right?

Kyle,
That legislative panel did not write the original report, they only released it. It was all the work of one guy.

You need to get your facts straight, Chris. The "personnel board" is the partisan hack job here, its appointed by the GOVERNOR!

Chris, you are too funny. You dismiss a panel comprised of 10 Republicans and 4 Democrats by calling them political hacks. Hacks, as in plural.

Then you turn around and defend yourself by saying only one guy wrote the report. ONE.

Get it together, man.

And by the way, "Joe" is right. The personnel board is appointed by Palin.

Tell me again which one is the partisan hack?

Someone should get Connolly a tin foil hat. I seriously think he needs it.

What baffles me is the severe lack of coverage on her husband's seperatist status.

Yes, THIS, THIS was what cost Sarah Palin her reputation. Not her ridiculous views, the cynical reasoning for her appointment, her proclivity for gaffs, her winking, the fact that she only did a handful of interviews due to utter incompetence, her liking for putting her foot in her mouth, her inexperience in a campaign that had made a point of attacking Obama's lack of it and her losing of the VP debate. No, it was definitely THIS.

Yeah all those biased Obama hacks, the REPUBLICANS in the BI-PARTISAN committee that evaluated her. THE REPUBLICANS who outnumbered Democrats. Yes, those biased folks.

You're ridiculous Connolly.
