Clinton, Others Set To Be Added To Obama's Cabinet On Monday

Hillary and other big names set to be announced...
Barack Obama will name Hillary Clinton as his Secretary of State during a Monday morning press conference. Obama will also name Jim Jones as National Security Adviser, Janet Napolitano at Homeland Security, Eric Holder as Attorney General, and will retain Robert Gates for Defense.
Obviously Clinton is the biggest name and one that will draw headlines not just in America, but around the world. The Clintons are, for the most part, very well liked around the world. Obama will also likely draw very good press for putting his former rival into his cabinet. How Clinton will do as Secretary of State is anybody's guess. She obviously has experience going overseas often and meeting with foreign leaders, as she did so many times as First Lady. She also is a very good debater/negotiater, something that is valuable in meetings with foreign leaders, particularly ones that we aren't on such great terms with. The big question, obviously, is how well Obama and Clinton work together. Clinton wanted to be the boss just a few months ago, but will now have to carry Obama's message all over the world. Is she comfortable with that role? She probably wouldn't have taken the job if she wasnt. Whatever the case, it'll be interesting to follow the Obama/Clinton relationship.
The Holder pick was no surprise, as was the decision to retain Gates. Jones was actually a darkhorse VP candidate for awhile and is someone who has been advising Obama on national security throughout the primaries and the election anyway. Napolitano is close to Obama, has a lot of legal experience, and is particularly involved in immigration issues.
Clinton claimed that Putin "had no soul". She makes George W. Bush look like a learned diplomat! Is this "change" boding well for the future of world peace?

Here we go again with the "this is no change" crowd. Maybe Hillary Clinton isn't the problem, maybe YOU are the problem!
Yeah, because once a year, Obama is flying in his sleigh over America handing out Change. But not to naughty commenters whining about every single cabinet pick. So, no Change for you this year... maybe that's the reason these picks seem like same old politics to you.
Maybe some people need to CHANGE their attitude before judging an administration that isn't even complete yet.

And Bush claimed that he was able to gauge the quality of Putin's character by staring lovingly into his eyes a few years back.
Seriously, one brand of misguided douchebaggery is as bad as the next when it comes to the foreign social-circle stage. Give it up, wanker.

KTL,
You hit it right on the nose. Do you smell that? I think I am smelling sour grapes from the McCain supporters.

Firstly. There's a black first family. How much change do you need after that?
Secondly, and more importantly, what is Obama going to do? Pick someone completely out of left field just because it's differant. That's totally irresponsible. I can just see him now: "Hmmmm...Hillary, she does have the credentials to be Sectretary of State. She would be great.. hang on, that would make sense... I think I'm going to pick... yes... I'm seeing a name now. A-HA! John Woodchuck... Hey. Get on the phone and see if there's a John Woodchuck anywhere... I like that name. Oh yes, change she be a comin".
Also keep in mind. This is a President who can actually deliver a speech without it having to be written for him fo-net-ik-ally. Once again, after that, how much more change do you really need?

This is only Obama's first term. His first term must be focused on getting quick results. The state of the nation after 8 years of Bush is one of possibly the greatest disarray in history. Obama needs to rebuild the foundation with those who have proven results in Washington of getting things done, and he's doing that. As he said, change will come, but it will take time. He needs to get back to at least where we were 10 years ago, and work from there.
