David Haye Relinquishes WBC Cruiserweight Belt
Posted by Ramon Aranda on 05.13.2008

Ring Magazine cruiserweight champion David Haye has just relinquished his WBC title and made the official announcement that he is moving to the heavyweight division. Haye has asked the WBC to rate him at heavyweight as he wishes to win the WBC belt.

The WBC vacant cruiserweight title will be contested between Rudolf Kraj and Giacobbe Fragomeni.

It will be interesting to see what ranking the WBC gives Haye at Heavyweight since Haye is already a big draw fighter without having done anything of note at heavyweight. His fight against Tomasz Bonin was an impressive farce despite the winning record that Bonin has.

I also wonder if the WBC will allow for a unification fight between the winner of Kraj-Fragomeni and Steve Cunningham.

I'll keep you posted on the WBC's ruling for Haye's heavyweight ranking.
