David Diaz: "I will not lose to Pacman"
Posted by Ramon Aranda on 05.14.2008
Quotes from this week's LA press conference.
In Los Angeles yesterday, WBC lightweight champion David Diaz said he is "only thinking of winning" when he takes on mega-star Manny Pacquiao on Top Rank's "Lethal Combination" championship card at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino on June 28.
"Every fighter, no matter who he is, should want to fight the very best - and that's what I'll be doing against Pacquiao," Diaz said. "I'm not going to lose. I don't even think of it. I will win and bring the green belt back to my hometown, Chicago."
Pacquiao added "....it's a tough fight because of his style (left-handed) and because he has a will to win. Those are things I have to overcome in this fight. The one good thing is that Diaz likes to fight toe-to-toe, which is what I like too."

Pacman will need to take caution with Diaz being a southpaw, but Pacman is PACMAN... can't wait to see how this will turn out!

this is a mismatch! Look at the winning and KO percentage of PACMAN and DIAZ...

and yes, Pacman is a southpaw too, so we'll see how these guys do!

I dontthink that this is a mismatch. When Diaz went to lightweight, its very difficult for him to KO his opponent because he uses 10 oz. gloves.. And now as the Nevada approve about using the 8 oz. gloves from lightweight to welterweight

It'll be an exciting fight to watch since both sluggers are straight forward fighters. This is the way boxing meant to be seen. can't wait to watch this LIVE!

i would likely want to watch this fight rather than PACMAN vs JMM. this fight will be full of action, a toe to toe battle bet 2 champions!

The Adv.of DD is his power at his natural weight plus indurance. Well they are both experienced boxer, and the Adv. of MP is that his acquired weight at 135 lbs b/c of maturity, will be his weight during ang after training. He does'nt have to struggle to make the weight req'd, meaning no sacrifice to reduce his power. Now as to receiving power punches from lightweights, he had been receiving/taking power punches from welterweight fighters since he was still featherweight, so he is already used to battle that kind of welterweight power, w/c is more than lightweight to consider, and with his speed added into it, and with unorthodox style, I would say I'm for MP by stoppage.
