BREAKING NEWS: Kelly to move up to light heavyweight in a mega matchup!
ESPN.com has just broke the news that middleweight champ Kelly Pavlik (34-0, 30 KOs) will face former light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins (48-5-1, 32 KOs) on October 18 in Atlantic City, NJ.
According to the report, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum had been running out of options for Pavlik's next opponent and when the offer to face Hopkins came around again, then decided to accept it.
"There's a deal, but there are a few details to be tied up," Arum said. "But the fight is happening."
Pavlik, will move up 10 pounds and meet Bernard Hopkins at 170 pounds, 5 under the light heavyweight limit. The fight is supposed to prepare Pavlik for a super middleweight showdown with Joe Calzaghe next year.
