News on Erik Morales jumping back into the ring and an update on Ivan Calderon.
Erik Morales plans to make a come back
Erik "El Terrible" Morales (48-6, 34 KOs) plans on making a come back next summer. Morales plans to fight a few times to get into shape and eventually fight for another lightweight championship. However the legendary Mexican warrior who has lost five out of his last six fights, including two by knockout to Manny Pacquiao will not be returning to the ring with the backing of ex-promoter Top Rank. The promotion company has encouraged Erik Morales to retire since his close decision lost to David Diaz for his lightweight title belt. Marco Antonio Barrera is also rumored to return to the ring later this year. Anyone up for Barrera vs. Morales 4?
Ivan Calderon is close to making weight
WBO light flyweight champ Ivan "Iron boy" Calderon (31-0, 6 KOs) is reported to be a few pounds away from reaching the 108 pound weight limit. He is currently training in Puerto Rico for his title defense on August 30th against the Mexican Hugo Fidel Cazares (26-4-1, 19 KOs).
