Another Epic Night on Nov. 1

The Home Depot Center plays host to first ever unification of super flyweight titles.
Nineteen months ago, Vic Darchinyan walked into the Home Depot Center in Carson, California and beat Victor Burgos into a bloody coma in a brutal twelve rounds of boxing.
This weekend, he returns to the HDC where he nearly took a man's life.
This time, he's vowing to "break his opponent in half".
Only this time, he's not facing a rugged 3o plus year old journeyman.
Darchinyan, the current IBF super flyweight champion, will be matched up against 27 year old top ten pound for pound and current WBA and WBC super flyweight champion Christian Mijares in the first ever unification bout in the history of the division.
The Armenian born Darchinyan, who fought mostly in Australia in his early career, has become known as the "Baby Tyson" of the flyweight division, packing heavy, electric punches in his 115 pound frame.
His nickname, "Raging Bull" is a testament to his all out style of fighting, which has led him to a 30 wins, 24 by knockout with only one loss.
Darchinyan reigned as IBF and IBO flyweight champion for nearly two years, before being dropped in the 5th round of his July 2007 bout with Nonito Donaire.
He has since upped to super flyweight, and won the IBF title just two months ago with a fifth round knockout of Dimitri Kirilov.
His opponent, the Mexican bred Mijares, is described as a "superb boxer" by Yahoo! Sports, and just crept on their much respected pound for pound rankings at the ten spot.
The young phenom has faced stiff competition in the likes of Luis Maldonado, Jorge Arce and most recently, a TKO of Chatchai Sasakul, who heading into the bout boasted a record of 64-2 with 39 knockouts.
He won the WBC super flyweight title in 2006 and tacked on the WBA title in May of this year, thus setting the first unification the division has ever seen.
Tensions have been boiling leading up to the bout, as Darchinyan feels disrespected by Mijares addressing the media during press conferences solely in his Spanish dialect.
"The last press conference I was speaking in English and everyone understood what I was saying. Mijares is speaking in Spanish and not in English. But after I find out he was not translating everything. He would say something in Mexican, he said I'm talking because I'm afraid of him."
"If I know he's talking like that, I will knock him out in that moment. Now I'm saying, I understand what he's said. If I'm scared, I'm going to show 1st November what I'm going to do you. I'm going to break you in half."
Mijares has not thrown any verbal jabs Darchinyan's way, instead reveling in the fact that he "likes to talk" and is waiting to do his talking in the ring with his fists.
The fighters are very well matched stylistically.
Both are come forward type boxers, are southpaws, and are both five and a half feet tall with sixty plus in arm reach.
Sounds like another electric night at the Home Depot Center.
Oscar has surprise up his sleeve
Team De La Hoya will make an official announcement to the media on Thursday afternoon.
They will announce a new addition to their camp.
Early prospective say they will elect undefeated Edwin Valero, (24-0 24 KO's) as a sparring partner for DLH's December bout against No. 1 pound for pound fighter Manny Pacquiao.
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Nonito Donaire, Jorge Arce, oh my…
Top Rank hosts "Final Impact" on Saturday, which will feature Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Nonito Donaire and Jorge Arce in separate bouts that is sure to be a firecracker of a fight card.
The bouts will be live on pay-per-view starting at 6 p.m. P/T.
