Season’s Beatings Ends the Year With a Bang

Roman “Made in Hell” Karmazin headlines the final boxing event of the year in Los Angeles against a crafty veteran Bronco McKart in a very meaningful middleweight bout, scheduled for December 20th, 2008 at the Hollywood Park Casino in Inglewood, California.
The youngest promoter in California Kahren Harutyunyan is at it again. This time, after two successful Warner Center Wars, his company The Art of Boxing Promotions is teaming up with Bash Boxing to bring to the faithful fans of the sweet science "Season's Beatings", an exciting twelve bout card to take place on Saturday, December 20th at Hollywood Park Casino, located at 3383 West Century Boulevard at Inglewood, California. Doors open at 6:00 pm and tickets are still available at the casino box office or call the promoter directly at 818 749-1571.
Boxing people are already talking about Mr. Harutyunyan and his uncanny ability to match boxers for competitive bouts. Well respected California referee and a director of World Boxing Hall of Fame Gwen Adair told me about Warner Center War II, which I missed due to an assignment in Las Vegas: " This was the most competitive fight card that I have been a part of. Every fight was a war." How does Harutyunyan do it?
He is an ex boxer and is able to use his inside knowledge to match guys with similar skills and strength, thus by avoiding mismatches that could result in fighters being hurt and creating pure competition and entertainment for the fans.
The main event, a twelve round bout for the vacant NABF middleweight title is a must win fight for both veterans. McKart, 37, has practically fought"who is who" of the middleweight division, from Winky Wright to Kelly Pavlik. Even though Bronco McKart( 51-8-1,31 KO'S) has lost the majority of big fights, he was competitive in all of them and looked pretty good as of late; he fought to a draw with a recent middleweight title challenger Raul Marquez and split a pair of bouts with a strong contender from Southern California Enrique Ornelas. A loss on Saturday could be catastrophic for Bronco; demotion to being a gate keeper and the end of hope for making any serious money.
Roman "Made in Hell"Karmazin was considered one of the top light middle weights in the world only a few years ago. He dismantled Kassim Ouma in July of 2005 for the IBF light middleweight title and seemed to be ready for a big stage, when a couple of costly mistakes turned his fortune.
Roman fought Cory Spinks for the title at Cory's home town a year later. Even though many ringside observers scored this bout for Karmazin, the judges ruled it for Spinks.
Winning two consecutive fights by early knock outs Roman looked impressive and was ready for the next title challenge when he made another costly mistake: he took a fight with veteran Alex Bunema despite not being completely recovered from chest infection that he suffered while in training. Heavily favorite Karmazin in spite of not being 100 percent ready decided to go ahead with the fight and suffered a consequence of being knocked out for the first time in his career. Karmazin (36-3-1, 23 KO'S) is moving up one division to middleweight and at 35 might not have too many chances left for big time. So the stakes are high, may the best man win.
On the card are also featured local young talent from Glendale, California Vardan Gasparyan and Gabriel Talmajyan. Undefeated welterweight Dean "Irish Lightning" Burnes, who practically lives at the WILD CARD Gym and trains under a watchful eye of Freddie Roach, trainer of a pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao, is scheduled to go six rounds with a veteran Francisco Rios Gil. Undefeated welterweight from Kazakhstan Vitaliy Demayaneko (15-0' 10 KO'S) is making his American debut. East Los Angeles own, undefeated Anthony Masquera will face Michelangelo Lynks in a six round welterweight battle. Many other hot young prospects will be featured on the card. So if your thirst for boxing action is not yet satisfied, this is your last chance for this year.
