| 3 (2) |  | Looks like ESPN jumped the gun putting the Pistons at their number 1 spot in the Power Rankings going into the Pistons/Celtics showdown this week. The Pistons aren't quite ready to beat the Celtics yet but knowing the Pistons, they will make adjustments and be ready on March 5th (a long time away). This will be a tough week for the Spurs, they travel to Texas to take on the Spurs and Mavs. | 26-8 |

Will this be the year Steve Nash and the boys finally succeed in overtaking the rest of the West? | 5 (5) |  | The Mavs owned this number 5 spot all season in seems, they just always remain here no matter what happens above them in the rankings. They haven't made a big push to catch the Spurs and Suns yet but after the showdown with the Pistons on Wednesday they get to take on some of the worst teams in the NBA for their next 6 games. They could make a push soon to the top of the West. | 23-11 |
| 6 (6) |  | Monday night's route by the Suns proves the Nuggets aren't serious contenders in the West right now, even if they get a home playoff series, which they should. The Nuggets have sadly gotten back into their old ways of going into shootouts everynight. I mean they almost blew a double digit half time lead to the Sixers Sunday night. | 21-13 |

| 8 (8) |  | The Lakers are one of those teams that should be scary to the Suns, Mavs, and Spurs Bynum is becoming a great center to anchor Kobe and they should make a big move to bring in a point guard. Derrick Fisher is playing well but I think he would do more damage as a 6th man or as a 2 if they chose to go small. How about this lineup if the Lakers go crazy and get Kidd. Kidd, Fisher, Kobe at the 3, and than Odom and Bynum down low. Sure it is small but that is damn good. | 21-11 |
| 9 (9) |  | How boring is the top 10 this weekend? New Orleans stays put again the 9 hole. They have continued to impress me by playing good basketball and could be contenders in the East, but they are in the West and are just going to be another bug to squash for the Spurs. | 23-11 |

Even with Oden hurt this team is succeeding way beyond what I believed possible. They are just a big man away from being serious contenders. I thought to myself "no way this team was a fluke" and than I thought about it. | 18 (12) |  | The Hawks climbed way up the standings and no drop back where they belong. I knew a team with Joe Johnson as their star player wouldn't be that great. However, Al Horford is turning into quite a solid NBA player in his rookie season, just as I thought he would. | 12-15 |
