| Ranking (previous) | Team | Commentary | Record |
| 1 (1) | | Although I just pumped up the Spurs in the intro I must say during the biggest showdown in the East so far this year, a hot Celtics team vs. a hot Pistons team the star of the game was Big Baby Davis, the rookie out of LSU. If Big Baby can produce for this team LOOK OUT, although it might just have been a fluke. Either way winning 9 straight definitely will keep the Celts in the top spot. | 29-3 |
| 2 (4) | | I am going to give the Spurs a generous jump here even though they have been under whelming thus far, however, I still believe they are the best chance to contend for the number 1 spot right now. Plus they are finally at full strength for the first time in a long time (in their Monday night showdown with the Warriors) so I give them they edge over the Suns and Pistons. | 23-10 |
| 3 (2) | | Looks like ESPN jumped the gun putting the Pistons at their number 1 spot in the Power Rankings going into the Pistons/Celtics showdown this week. The Pistons aren't quite ready to beat the Celtics yet but knowing the Pistons, they will make adjustments and be ready on March 5th (a long time away). This will be a tough week for the Spurs, they travel to Texas to take on the Spurs and Mavs. | 26-8 |
| 4 (3) | | Phoenix had a solid 5-2 record the past two weeks and continue to be right with the Spurs atop the Western Conference. Will this be the year Steve Nash and the boys finally succeed in overtaking the rest of the West? It better be because the Marion/Amare drama will end in one of them leaving in the off season. | 24-10 |
| 5 (5) | | The Mavs owned this number 5 spot all season in seems, they just always remain here no matter what happens above them in the rankings. They haven't made a big push to catch the Spurs and Suns yet but after the showdown with the Pistons on Wednesday they get to take on some of the worst teams in the NBA for their next 6 games. They could make a push soon to the top of the West. | 23-11 |
| 6 (6) | | Monday night's route by the Suns proves the Nuggets aren't serious contenders in the West right now, even if they get a home playoff series, which they should. The Nuggets have sadly gotten back into their old ways of going into shootouts everynight. I mean they almost blew a double digit half time lead to the Sixers Sunday night. | 21-13 |
| 7 (7) | | Orlando righted the ship a little in the past two weeks but playing in a weak division is really helping them. Sure they are number three in the East but does anyone think of them as on the same level as the Celtics or Pistons right now that isn't a naïve Magic fan? | 22-13 |
| 8 (8) | | The Lakers are one of those teams that should be scary to the Suns, Mavs, and Spurs Bynum is becoming a great center to anchor Kobe and they should make a big move to bring in a point guard. Derrick Fisher is playing well but I think he would do more damage as a 6th man or as a 2 if they chose to go small. How about this lineup if the Lakers go crazy and get Kidd. Kidd, Fisher, Kobe at the 3, and than Odom and Bynum down low. Sure it is small but that is damn good. | 21-11 |
| 9 (9) | | How boring is the top 10 this weekend? New Orleans stays put again the 9 hole. They have continued to impress me by playing good basketball and could be contenders in the East, but they are in the West and are just going to be another bug to squash for the Spurs. | 23-11 |
| 10 (11) | | And Portland is in the top 10 as the biggest surprise team in the NBA this year. No one thought that trading their star player from last year would have such a positive effect. Even with Oden hurt this team is succeeding way beyond what I believed possible. They are just a big man away from being serious contenders. Good thing they have a big man rehabbing right now for next season. | 21-13 |
| 11 (10) | | The other night while I was working I had the local sports radio station on in my car and they were talking trash on the Warriors calling them a fluke last year. I thought to myself "no way this team was a fluke" and than I thought about it. It wasn't a fluke it was just the right things happening at the right time, they really aren't worth the hype I made for them in my head. | 20-15 |
| 12 (13) | | Speaking of teams I have overhyped in my head, the Jazz continue to lose ground on the Nuggets and hopes of winning a playoff series. Just another playoff team that will be fodder for the big 3 of the West. | 18-17 |
| 13 (17) | | I will give the Rockets some love this week even though I am sure they will disappoint me and miss the playoffs this year. Think about it if the Rockets were in the East what rank would they be in their conference? 5th? 4th? 3rd? Still disappointing if they miss the playoffs | 17-17 |
| 14 (16) | | Could you imagine a team as bad as the Wizards getting a home playoff series this season? It might happen. The East is terrible, so keep checking back week to week because in the blink of an eye a team will be at number 4 and the Wizards might be around the bottom of the conference. | 17-15 |
15 (18) | | The Nets have won five straight and are right back into a solid standing in the Eastern Conference. This false hope might leave Jason Kidd on the Nets for another meaningless first or second round playoff exit. | 17-16 | | 16 (19) | | For all you Cleveland lovers out there (especially those leaving comments to me at the bottom of the page, P.S. feel free to drop me a comment, I love reading them) I moved the Cavs up 3 spots this week but still have no faith in them. I have watched them play several times, they are overrated. No help and LeBron tries to do to much. Not even the best player in the NBA can take this team to the NBA championship again. | 17-17 |
| 17 (15) | | The Raptors are another Eastern Conference disappointment. Good thing I drafted Andreas Bargani in my fantasy Bball league, biggest bust every. My team stinks thanks to him and he sure isn't helping the Raptors at all. | 17-17 |
| 18 (12) | | The Hawks climbed way up the standings and no drop back where they belong. I knew a team with Joe Johnson as their star player wouldn't be that great. However, Al Horford is turning into quite a solid NBA player in his rookie season, just as I thought he would. | 12-15 |
| 19 (14) | | The Pacers are another one of those East teams that are solid one week and than towards the bottom the next. There just aren't any consistent good teams in the East other than the Pistons and Celtics this year. BORING. | 16-19 |
| 20 (24) | | Finally the Bulls are playing some decent ball and in a week could have be in position for a home playoff series. Sure I'd be surprised if it happened, but not to surprised (This all being said after going 4-3 the past two weeks!) | 13-19 |
21 (22) | | The good news for the Sixers is their first pick in the 07 draft is looking to be a decent player in Thaddeus Young. The bad news is they still are just bad enough to miss the playoffs but not get a great draft pick. I hate this team. | 14-20 | 22 (21) | | Kevin Martin should return next week for the Kings which means they might just climb to the 20 spot soon! Really not an accomplishment. | 12-20 | 23 (20) | | Bogut is finally getting the ball more like I have been screaming for. To bad it doesn't translate into wins, this team still stinks. | 13-20 | 24 (25) | | So much for holding on to contention until Brand comes back. The season is over for the Clippers already, Elton might as well take the full year off. | 10-21 | 25 (23) | | Atleast Gerald Wallace is playing better for my fantasy team! | 11-21 | 26 (28) | | Trade Gasol or tank this season so you can get some more talent to put around him. I am sick of watching my favorite player in the NBA be complete garbage because his team is complete garbage. | 10-23 | 27 (26) | | The Sonics got lucky by getting possibly the best player at the number 2 pick in te draft in a while and this season they might be bad enough to get another star in the making for their team. Keep losing Seattle! | 9-24 | 28 (27) | | Did a team with a player as good as Dwayne Wade really drop seven straight games? What is wrong with this team? Would Shaq just retire already? He is just embarrassing himself out their. | 8-26 | 29 (29) | | Another team that lost 7 straight comes in at the 29 hole again, but let me say something good about the Knicks. No one got arrested or sued this week. | 8-24 | 30 (30) | | The T-Wolves one up the Heat and the Knicks this week with an 8 game losing streak. The T-Wolves continue there trek to own the number 1 spot for the entire season! What an accomplishment. | 4-29 |
