 | Like many people predicted, the game with the Titans was a tight one. However, the Colts did what good teams do—they found a way to win. The defense played well, and Peyton Manning had another 300-yard game. With the Texans up next, the Colts should hold the number one spot for at least another week. | previous rank: 1
 | Who knew this game was going to be over in the first quarter? Head coach Bill Belichick devised a wonderful plan for the Chargers; he put the ball in QB Tom Brady's hands and asked him to win the game. Brady proceeded to pass all over San Diego's suspect secondary and made a strong case for league supremacy. | previous rank: 3
 | So the Broncos have two wins by a combined 4 points. But, one game was on the road, and one game was against a longtime rival. QB Jay Cutler has been impressive; leading his team on game winning drives the past two weeks. He is gaining valuable experience for a playoff run later this season. | previous rank: 6
 | I won't say that the Chargers were exposed because not many teams have a QB of Brady's caliber. But their one spot of concern—their secondary—was exploited. They have to keep pressure on the QB to disguise their weakness. Offensively, albeit against two of the better units in the NFL, they have struggled. New head coach Norv Turner needs to be a bit more creative. | previous rank: 2
 | Defensively, even with the loss of safety Mike Brown, the Bears were superb. And can someone please tell me why a team would kick it to Devin Hester? On the other hand, the Bears should have a healthy concern about their offense after managing only one touchdown drive against the Chiefs. They do still have Brian Griese on the bench, right? | previous rank: 5
 | The Cowboys, I am convinced, have the second-best offense in the NFL. They're averaging 41 points after two games and it doesn't look like they can be stopped. The defense improved on their Week 1 performance, creating 5 turnovers. Next Sunday night they travel to Chicago and we will find out which team is the best in the NFC. | previous rank: 7
 | Although their uniforms were hideous, the Steelers' play was not. They have outscored their opponents 60-10 so far by keeping opposing defenses off-balance. RB Willie Parker looks good, QB Ben Roethlisberger looks great. The Steelers are a confident team and the rest of the AFC better check their rear view mirrors. | previous rank: 10
 | After playing so well in Week 1, the Bengals defense gave up 51 points to the Browns. THE FREEKIN' BROWNS! They did put up 45 themselves, which we all knew they were capable of doing. I think the Bengals looked past the Browns and paid the price. The defense will take a hard look at themselves and play much better against the Seahawks. | previous rank: 4
9 | | And to think we all wondered why QB Brett Favre came back. The Cheeseheads have beaten two playoff teams from a year ago, and their defense has been a huge factor. Couple the ‘D' with Favre hitting 8 different receivers and tossing 3 touchdowns and the Packers can compete with any team in The League. | previous rank: 16 | | 10 | | With QB Steve McNair injured, the Ravens squeaked by the New York Jets. LB Ray Lewis looked 5 years younger, leading the team with 7 tackles and a game-saving interception. Overall the Ravens were sloppy again, committing 11 penalties, bringing their two-game total to 21. With all the veterans on this squad, you would expect them to be more disciplined. | previous rank: 8 |
 | The Titans running game by committee was effective yet again, but the Colts proved to be too much. QB Vince Young looked poised and almost mounted a fourth quarter comeback. With New Orleans looming next Monday night, the Titans should have no problem bouncing back. | previous rank: 13
 | QB Matt Schaub is the real deal. In two games his completion percentage is over 70, and he and his number 1 WR Andre Johnson look like they've been playing together for years. After starting slow, they rallied to stomp the Panthers, which shows a lot about the team's character. Next week they play the Colts for sole possession of first place in the AFC South. Seriously. | previous rank: 20
 | Seattle was supposed to be back in contention after their Week 1 drubbing of the Bucs, but the Cardinals had something to prove. The Seahawks surrendered 431 total yards, 128 of those to Edgerrin James on the ground. If defense is going to define the ‘Hawks, they have some soul-searching to do. | previous rank: 9
 | The ‘Skins are 2-0 and QB Jason Campbell looks good. The running game is effective, and the defense is hasn't given up more than 13 points in any one game. The Cowboys may just have some competition in the NFC East this year. | previous rank: 25
 | The 49ers are indeed playing up to preseason expectations. They are 2-0 and are in first place of the NFC West. Although they only managed 186 total yards against the Rams, they still won the game. RB Frank Gore scored twice, and QB Alex Smith was efficient. Pittsburgh in Week 3 will be a true test. | previous rank: 22
 | The running game came back to haunt the Panthers. After jumping to a 14-0 lead, Carolina gave up 34 unanswered points before scoring a meaningless touchdown. The Panthers became one-dimensional, only running the ball 18 times. WR Steve Smith will continue to put up big numbers but, without a running game, this team will not make the playoffs. | previous rank: 11
 | Last week the defense played great but the offense didn't. Against the Seahawks, both units played well and they picked up a much-needed victory. With the playoffs being a realistic goal coming into the 2007 season, the Cardinals avoided dropping to 0-2, which would have been devastating to their chances. With RB Edgerrin James getting 25 carries a game and the defense performing well, they just might make it. | previous rank: 26
 | The Eagles couldn't get it done at home, and the so-called NFC contenders are now 0-2. Their drives stalled, settling for 4 field goals. To add insult to injury, they lost a few players to injury. They are definitely down, but not out….yet. | previous rank: 14
 | The Bills put up a good fight against Denver in Week 1, but didn't show up at all against Pittsburgh. Surprisingly, they only committed 5 penalties and did not turn the ball over. The only explanation for their loss is that they were just overmatched, plain and simple. They are improving, but they are at least one season away from being playoff contenders. | previous rank: 19
 | The Jags ran the ball a little better in Week 2 than they did in Week 1, but they narrowly escaped the Atlanta Flacons. Anytime your team struggles against a Joey Harrington-led team, you have problems. In fact, if it wasn't for Atlanta's kicker missing two easy field goals (long of 43), this game could've gone the other way. | previous rank: 23
 | The Jets have an uphill battle in front of them if they are going to make the playoffs again. Even with a healthy Chad Pennington I'm not sure they will. With Miami, Buffalo, and the Giants up next on the schedule, however, they do have an opportunity to turn things around. | previous rank: 21
 | Detroit overcame 5 turnovers and an injury to QB Jon Kitna (he did return) to beat the Vikings in overtime. Kitna optimistically guaranteed 10 wins this season, which is a stretch, but I don't think 8 wins are out of reach. If they can run the ball and compliment their top-ranked passing attack, the Lions will be the wildcard race all season. | previous rank: 24
 | The Vikings defense did their job once again, creating 5 turnovers and scoring a touchdown. Unfortunately for them, their offense turned the ball over 5 times themselves, including once in overtime. QB Tarvaris Jackson was responsible for 4 of those, and head coach Brad Childress mistakenly replaced him with Brooks Bollinger in overtime. If Jackson is Childress' guy, then he should've stuck with him through the entire game. Replacing your QB in overtime is not smart. | previous rank: 15
 | Head coach Tom Coughlin has to go. The Giants simply will not perform under him, and he has to pay the price. He is a good coach, but he has obviously worn thin on the players. Although injuries have plagued this team for 3 seasons now, getting embarrassed at home by the Packers is unacceptable under any circumstance. | previous rank: 17
 | The Buccaneers were explosive on offense and tenacious on defense. Jumping out to a 28-0 lead, they cruised to their first year of the season. If the defense continues to play strong and the offense remains balanced, Jon Gruden might smile a little more than usual, which is almost never. | previous rank: 30
 | Losing at hone to the up-and-coming 49ers has to hurt. If RB Steven Jackson continues to get shut down like he has the first two weeks (118 yards, 0 touchdowns), the Rams will continue to lose. The depleted offensive line needs to find a way to be more effective or it will be a long season. | previous rank: 18
 | Without a doubt, the Saints are the biggest disappointment of the young 2007 season. They are no longer creeping up on teams, and the honeymoon with America is over. The defense might be the worst in the NFL. They were spanked for the second time in as many weeks and—mark my words—this team will not make the playoffs. | previous rank: 12
 | The Oakland Raiders were a timeout away from stealing a victory at Mile High. With QB Josh McCown banged up and a lack of confidence in Daunte Culpepper, the Raiders relied on RB LaMont Jordan. He nearly ran them to victory (25 carries, 159 yards), but home field advantage proved to be the difference. Call me crazy but, watching the Raiders, I get the feeling this team might win 5 or 6 games. | previous rank: 28
 | QB Derek Anderson threw 5 touchdown passes against Cincinnati. Prior to that he had 6 TDs passes on his career! It appears the Browns made the right choice in keeping Anderson and trading Frye, but they shouldn't get too excited about their win on Sunday. It is a long season, but the win undoubtedly gives them some confidence before they go to Oakland next week. | previous rank: 31
 | The Chiefs played well against the Bears, despite RB Larry Johnson being held to just 55 yards. QB Brodie Croyle saw his first action of the season--after the Chiefs apparently gave up on the game—and completed all 4 of his passes for 55 yards. If the Chiefs fall to the Vikings next week, we just might see Croyle more often this season. | previous rank: 27
 | Turnovers were the difference in Week 2, as the Dolphins committed 5 to the Cowboys 0. Like I wrote last week, RB Ronnie Brown has to get more carries. They can't expect QB Trent Green to carry them all year. Miami should also be concerned about their running defense, as it has proven to be their weakness so far in ‘07. | previous rank: 29
 | The Falcons are just destined to fail this year. They put themselves in a good position to win, but their kicker (most likely former kicker) missed two kicks. Head coach Bobby Petrino has to feel like he's living a nightmare. But on the bright side, there is no where to go but up from where the Falcons are. | previous rank: 32
