Matt Walsh to Interview with Bryant Gumbel
Posted by Ramon Aranda on 05.15.2008

REAL SPORTS WITH BRYANT GUMBEL presents the first TV interview with one of the central figures in the New England Patriots videotaping scandal – former Patriots video assistant Matt Walsh – when the show is seen FRIDAY, MAY 16 (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET/PT), exclusively on HBO.

Correspondent Andrea Kremer interviews Walsh, who worked in the Patriots organization from 1997 to 2003. The videotaping came to light in September after the Patriots-Jets season opener in New Jersey, triggering a media firestorm. The Patriots and head coach Bill Belichick were subsequently disciplined by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

Other HBO playdates: May 18 (8:00 a.m.), 22 (1:00 p.m., midnight), 24 (11:30 a.m.), 28 (4:30 p.m.) and 31 (4:40 a.m.)

HBO2 playdates: May 17 (1:30 p.m.), 20 (6:15 p.m., 2:30 a.m.), 23 (3:00 p.m.), 25 (7:00 p.m.) and 29 (11:00 a.m., 12:05 a.m.), and June 2 (5:00 p.m.)

HBO On Demand availability: May 19-June 9

The Walsh interview is added to the edition of REAL SPORTS that debuted May 12 on HBO, and will be included in all subsequent plays of the show, along with three previously featured segments: a report on the slaughter of former racing horses for profit, by Bernard Goldberg; a profile of tennis icon Venus Williams, by host Bryant Gumbel; and a look at the mayoral campaign of former NBA star Kevin Johnson in his hometown of Sacramento, Cal., by correspondent James Brown.
